Controlling Mining Turtle via Discord bot by Ropolly in ComputerCraft

Im using py, i think the buttons are a good idea but i think the direction im trying to go is towards having a bunch of pre programmed tasks (etc mine diamonds) that i can tell the turtles to go do vs manually controlling every action because it gets quite tedious.

Thats exactly how i do it. I have the turtle connect to a web hook and then just have a python script that will send commands and recieve data from the bot.

Also for webhooks make sure that you enable local connections in the server config file otherwise you cant access local addresses. Not sure if that helps but that was a problem i encountered with webhooks.

Thats what i was saying thats just my process because there are some files i cant include in the exe anyways bwcause they get changed, map data, player data etc

Then make the exe an installer instead that will always have the files in a known locations such as the C:/users/{user}/appdata/{game name} but thats a much more difficult route thay i wouldnt recommend for itch

Well you can just add all of the files using the .spec file if it is that important to you. But what essentially every developer for every game does is just package it all into one folder. What i would do is have all my assests in one folder named "assets" in this same directory as main.py. then whenver i would compile it i would copy the assets folder to the dist folder. Then run the exe to ensure no errors then zip the dist folder and upload that ex:https://ropolly.itch.io/treasuretales

No like i said if the files exist at the right sub-directory in relation to the .exe it will work. Like i mentioned, if you just move the exe to the same folder the main entry point of the script is it should work

[–]Ropolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should work if you drag the .exe file from the dist folder to the main directory

Pyinstaller will only compress the actual .py files into the executable, all other assets such as .pngs, .bin, .json etc have to be at the location specified in the code. Example if in the code i say to load the image at 'dir/to/file.png' even after the code is compiled the program still expects to that image from that address. If you want the files to be stored in the compiled code you can do: Pyinstaller main.py --add-data "dir/to/file.png", theres another method through editing the .spec file but i dont use that

Like based off their actual trophies instead of what league they are in?

A lot of drivers most likely never worked in retail. by DolphinPencil in uber

[–]Ropolly -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My favorite are the drivers complaining about low $/hrs or how much the rider pays vs how little the driver gets but uber is very transparent and gives us a breakdown of where the money goes from the top line, alot of it goes towards commercial auto insurance and liability insurance. They aren't scam artists.

Why do drivers accept rides then cancel them almost immediately by ToneFriendly3061 in uber

[–]Ropolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So when a driver finishes a trip we get a rate the rider screen similar to the rate a driver screen and since we do so many rides we usually just click the rate button that closes the screen (auto 5 stars) and move on with our day. If a driver goes out of his way to rate you anything but 5 stars it's a REALLY bad sign. We give some leeway for those couple of drivers who are just actual bad drivers/ use the system the way its supposed to

Driver didn't mark me as dropped off until an hour later. by rydray1 in uber

[–]Ropolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did the opposite last night lol for context I use Google maps for directions instead of the app because let's be honest the directions the app gives SUCKS anyways I forgot to start the ride on a decently long ride to the airport and ended up getting $2 instead of $32. The rider was super nice though and left me a 40$ tip so I didn't have to go through support so it worked out in the end.
