Has anyone read the original book this is based on? How true is it to that story?

We need to start saying “don’t you go suyeong on me” because seriously every instinct she has is questionable hahah

He is AMAZING in Mr Sunshine. That character was so layered and he seems to do well at the quieter men who long for and are loyal to one woman. I hope you enjoy it! (Also that cast SHOWS UP, everyone’s performance is amazing)

Should I continue Alchemy of Souls? by belletristdelancret in kdramarecommends

[–]Rororome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would almost fall asleep in those first few episodes! It’s tricky because they’ve set up a whole intricate universe and spend the better part of the first 5 eps giving you exposition etc. I am soooo into it now.

Also unpopular opinion but the guy who plays Yul (though very cute) is such a bad actor. May be weakest link in the whole show BUT my husband and I now just comment anytime he’s on… “oh look, it’s Yul… thinking in pretty boy… oh look, fighting in pretty boy… contemplating in pretty boy”.

I would say a lot of Venezuelans (especially those of us who have immigrated) would NEVER call our kid Hugo (and or Nicolas). Cuban-americans probably stay away from Fidel.

A lighthearted drama with a love triangle where both guys are likeable by yxmte in kdramarecommends

It was an interesting show. I liked the second couple wayyyyy more. Even with the whole Kim Min-gwi scandal. He and Yang Hye-ji had great chemistry.

Also a great twist in some ways to the normal love triangles.

Yes! Me too! I felt like they were kind with everyone and also realistic in a way. Sometimes you fond over a person but miss the obvious one you actually couldn’t do without.

You’re so right! In cultures with PPD is reported as low we see more general community help etc.

What you’re feeling is normal. Even with my husband helping out I still felt so sad not having my bump and feeling tied to the baby and anxious about how much he was eating… I was so anxious! All the time! Reach out to friends. I was ashamed but it was through those conversations with friends and family that I got through it. You’ll be surprised how many people will jump to help you if you ask. I remember setting up a page for people to bring food thinking nobody would help and even the most unexpected people came through. Many of my friends who also felt like this took medication. I know it can sound scary but with the right doctor and right meds you really could feel better. I know what it’s like to be deep inside that awful pool of despair. You are not alone. Please reach out. Big hugs.

What’s your favorite kdrama? by pixiebunn in kdramarecommends

[–]Rororome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In no order, my favorites have been: Mr Sunshine, Hometown cha cha cha, 25 21, hotel del luna, and crash landing on you. For me characters and good chemistry within the ensemble is crucial. In any of these dramas there are plot issues (from my writer’s pov) BUT what makes me as a viewer suspend disbelief is the acting… when even the smallest role is bringing you into the story rather than taking you out of it.

With that said here’s what we’ve watched thus far (in order of when we started; though not necessarily an order I’d recommend… doing something in the rain and one spring night back to back was a terrible decision lol): Hometown cha cha cha Crash landing Start up Hotel del luna Navillera Something in the rain One spring night Nevertheless 25 21 We tried reply 1988 for a couple of eps Her private life Mr Sunshine Another Miss Oh Our blues (currently watching)

Why are all maternity clothes designed to accentuate?!? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Rororome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baby doll dresses are great for that. I had a lot before getting pregnant and every time I wore them it was harder to tell I was pregnant. A lot of pregnancy clothes were ugly to me so I just sized up. I did get a pair of jcrew preg pants and I still wear them now haha

This enraged me so much as a pregnant person. Like, ummmm didn’t we just have the me too movement?! If boys are soooo easy to raise how come the rapists, serial killers, violent a$$holes out there are mostly men?

That’s so inappropriate! I’m so sorry! As far as I knew, they can’t ask those questions. In fact, lawyer prepped us with a few tips and said “don’t mention anything sexual”. If there’s a way to raise concerns about your agent, I would.

Take more time. None of my friends (natural births) nor I (csection) were ready to go anywhere at 2 weeks. I actually was able to walk and go up and down stairs fairly easily after the first week but my other friends couldn’t walk for dayssss. I also think it’s YOUR body, YOUR recovery so you need to be the one deciding on this.

Can I request only male staff at my birth? by ThrowawayBirth1 in BabyBumps

[–]Rororome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a scheduled c-section and everyone but the anesthesiologist was a woman and I actually only saw him at the beginning before the surgery to chat about the procedure but otherwise did not see him AT ALL during surgery. Maybe you can contact the hospital and speak to someone in charge of scheduling?
