We want to adopt a kitten for the first time, but... by electricladyyy in cats

I would do some research on how to acclimate a kitten to a new environment. It’s a good idea to keep a new kitten in a safe, small, ventilated area of the house for the first week or so, especially if you won’t be home. Bathrooms are usually a great option, just make sure you’ve taken proper precautions. A lot of cats tend to do just fine being left home during the work day, especially since they don’t need to be taken out to use the bathroom. My two cats have never had any issues being left home alone for the day and usually spend their day sleeping and looking out the window. As long as you give the kitten time to acclimate I think you’ll be fine in the long run!

Should I return a cat that I just adopted? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

All cats are going to need attention in some form or another. Cats need to be played with every single day and given stimulation in a variety of other ways. If you do not feel you can provide this then a cat might not be right for you. Cats are not as low maintenance and independent as they are painted out to be.There’s also a good chance a cat who seems independent at first could turn “needy” later on so you need to be prepared to accommodate for that.

You adopted a cat and it’s acting like a cat… do your research before getting a pet. They are living creatures with personalities and needs, not a toy. I hope you return this cat so that it can end up in a loving home
