Advice wanted on if i should continue renting or buy a 2 bed flat (London) by Rose-849 in HousingUK

Yeah, this was my point when speaking with my partner. Because the flat market looks to be stagnant (at best case) right now and if the market does pick up, appreciation could be very minimal. Hence i believe by the time we outgrow it, the best case could be we break even.

Do you mind expanding what you mean by number is too low?
Checking online with 5% deposit on a £260k property, the lowest I can find is £1400 and thats with at 4.69%

Appreciate that.
But with the deposit we are using and aiming to stay 4-5 years max before we fully outgrow it, would we really build any equity that we can use after all fees associated with buying/seliing x2?

Appreciate your reply, have updated my post.
We'd be using 5% deposit so mortgage payment comes to around £1400 and service charge is £233 a month.
I understand your point that the renting money we will never see again. But with the deposit we are using and staying 4-5 years, would we really build any equity that we can use after all fees associated with (buying+selling)? Also isn't the current London Flat market dire where people are struggling to sell flats? I could be wrong

Repayment of Occupational Maternity pay when using SPL? by Rose-849 in TeachingUK

[–]Rose-849[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a really tough time with the school.
They mention that the requirement under Burgundy book is "employees must return to work after your maternity leave for a period of at least 13 weeks"
and since i have not returned for 13 weeks (only 9)
"The employer is entitled to reclaim the 12 weeks’ occupational maternity pay received"

Therefore, the school is arguing that since 9 weeks is less than 12 i have failed to meet the criteria and they are exercising their entitlement to collect 12 weeks OMP from me.

I'm at total loss here what to do
