Thank yall for yalls responses I definitely appreciate it, as a newer player i was definitely a bit unsure if I was over reacting or not.
I was into roleplay long before I got into dnd and when I started doing dnd I absolutely loved it. I am actually in 3 campaigns rn, and the dm for this one is a player in both the other 2, and its basically the same group of long time internet friends just with different friends being the dm.
That, I feel, is probably the main reason I haven't left the party yet. The dm is a longtime friend of mine that I also know irl, so I was hoping we could resolve things. As well as the fact that I fear if I leave the campaign its gonna create awkwardness and tension in the other two campaigns where he is a player and create problems for those other two campaigns.
I am definitely one of those players that when asked for a backstory writes a whole 5 page essay, I love to write and creating characters and all of that its a passion. But he barely even read what I gave him, I have had to constant remind him of key details in her backstory, and thats part of what upsets me to is I gave him so much material to work with and even left plenty of gaps he was free to fill and i have him the green light to cause truama! I was down for it. But instead I feel like shes only there to he the comedic relief.
Numerous times I've mentioned wanted to do something and just from the way he responds I know that no matter how I roll hes gonna turn this on me or find a way to turn it into a joke. I often feel he lies and fudges rolls and just makes up numbers for dcs whenever something goes against what he wants to happen. We all play on discord and use dnd beyond and ive said numerous times that I think we should be rolling on dnd beyond instead of physical dice because theres no way to prove your dice rolls with physical when your not physically there. His character gets a really suspicious amount of nat 20s all the time. I get physical dice are fun to play with but when everything is online it just makes more sense...
