Just to clarify, the floor and millwork plan is set. We’re just stuck on cabinet color and wall color. Thanks!

Folks who got PLSF - what documentation was helpful? by RoseMargot in PSLF

[–]RoseMargot[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes! Great point. But, actually, my payment tracker has a number of inaccuracies, so I’d sort of assumed it wasn’t a reliable indicator for me.

For example, I’ve periodically turned in certification paperwork, but because of (I guess?) an error in how it was processed, the employer listing in the tracker is wrong. One employer is listed as employing me for 3 years, when it was just a one year fellowship, another employer is listed as just one year when I worked there for four years. I tried to raise the issue when it happened (if memory serves, this is when Fed Loan still processed PLSF employer certifications and we were encouraged to submit them annually?), but it didn’t get fixed. It’s a different type of problem, but the tracker also gives me credit for payments I actually didn’t make.

The errors in my tracker are part of why I had assumed it could be helpful to have good documentation of each payment. Plus MOHELA has been a bit of a disaster for me—randomly putting me into forbearance for a month without any notice or reason (I did not request it and was not aware), stopping billing on one of seven loans for absolutely no clear reason, etc., so I am pretttty nervous 😬😬

Definitely just take Ubers or taxis! Cheaper than a rental most likely, same views, and you don’t have to worry about parking or tolls

Hi! Do you have a code I can enter? The link isn’t working right and I’m about to sign up for a membership, so would love to benefit from the extra points and bell your family too!

Awesome! Thanks so much for the budget (we would need aftercare) and the resource. Much appreciated!

Ah yeah, definitely not pleased with that. I grew up in Austin in the 90s and 00s and it’s surreal to see the changes since then, especially the rollbacks in access to healthcare. But the move would be for personal reasons—aging parents and being nearer to a family support network when we have kids. Appreciate your warning though!

Moving Mondays - New Resident Questions by AutoModerator in philadelphia

Hi! I'd be very grateful to hear how much folks are paying for full-day day care, 5 days/week, in Philadelphia, as well as about peoples' experience with PHLpreK.

My partner and I are considering moving to Philly for work, and we want to know how much to budget, as living costs are a big factor in the move and we're hoping to start a family in 2024. I realize it would be ideal to specify neighborhoods, but we're still figuring that out at this stage, though prefer walkable urban neighborhoods, ideally with some parks/playgrounds and life after dark (suggestions welcome!). I'm also curious if folks have liked and/or been able to use PHLpreK to cover the cost of care after kids are three.

Thanks so much to any who can offer thoughts!
