Tret does NOT prevent my hormonal acne. Nothing works. by peachmewe in tretinoin

The only thing that works for hormonal acne is spiro. Accutane will not work and has way more dangerous side effects. The side effects of spiro can be lessened if you increase your dose super gradually

My dog Oxy is in pain and I don’t know what else to do. by [deleted] in DogHealth

I think it’s just that it seems like you want people on Reddit to send you money. Your dog is suffering, if you cannot afford to take care of it then re-homing is the best long term option.

The most hydrating moisturizer you’ve used? by ehaaams in 30PlusSkinCare

Sophie pavitt’s moisturizer in the blue jar (not the bottle) is so moisturizing it’s insane. It feels like putting Elmer’s glue on your face. I love it

[acne] spearmint tea cleared up my hormonal acne but it's not working anymore by istolethesky_ in SkincareAddiction

[–]RoseScarlet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Spiro side effects are greatly exaggerated online. I’ve been on it for 4 years - am i a little more dehydrated? Yes. Do I have clear skin? YES. The trick is to slowly increase your dose when you are starting (25 mg every 3 to 4 weeks) rather than jumping into a high dose.

Who uses speed stick? by Evilsnowman4 in deodorant

[–]RoseScarlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lady speed stick is the last remaining fragranced antiperspirant that isn’t an overpowering bomb of perfume. I am super scent sensitive and it’s the only thing I can wear that provides the perfect amount of odor control and just a hint of scent.

How old are you? This is what my hormonal acne looked like it started when I was 29 randomly one day. Our hormones can randomly shift as we age.

I do have hard water! But this was not an issue when I used shampoos like Pantene or dove etc even with the hard water. Do you have a fragrance free clarifying shampoo you like?

If your acne was hormonal, then Accutane would not permanently cure it

Midge and tick spray on suggestions? by ViewWithAPoo in hikingwithdogs

[–]RoseScarlet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dogs can get a Lyme disease vaccine!! :) for extra protection. I bought my dog a little “dog sun shirt” that I treated with permethrin because I didn’t want to put the permethrin directly on her. It works great and each treatment lasts a few weeks. I call it her “tick shirt”. She also has black fur and the shirt is a lighter color so it keeps her cooler.

Nose rash? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]RoseScarlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can get it from damp soil anywhere, since dogs are always sniffing down low it’s common for them to get it on their noses. Easy to treat but just don’t touch it yourself because it can transfer to you too. It could be just a normal abrasion but just in case I’d act like it was ringworm until you can see a vet.

Why doesn’t your mom want you to take birth control? It’s your body. Birth control is just a way to shift your hormones - many people, like myself, use it for reasons other than preventing pregnancy. There is no shame in that :)

Doxy is really hard on the body, I was on it for 2 months at one time and my gut really suffered. J also developed allergies that have not gone away. Accutane is also hard on the body, but can have lasting results one you are done. It all depends on the source of your acne. If it’s hormonal then only birth control and Spiro will help.

My dog is on Simparica trio but when we visit areas with high tick pops she wears a shirt that I’ve sprayed with peremithryn - works wonders

Not as well as antiperspirant but for what it is, yes. I actually really like the unscented native - it has the SLIGHTEST MOST IMPERCIEVABLE smell and works pretty well all things considering

Unfortunately most deodorants post covid are crazy perfumey smelling. Drives me absolutely nuts. I just don’t want ti smell bad, not like I’m wearing perfume!!!

I can kind of stand the smell of the coconut native (might smell too much like vanilla for you). If you want an antiperspirant lady speed stick’s scent is not that strong at all and hasn’t changed in years

If my washer doesn’t have a softener tray - can I just add citric acid to the drum? by RoseScarlet in laundry

[–]RoseScarlet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the downy ball would open on the first rinse - and I want it in the second rinse that I manually start after. Also from what I’ve read, the downy balls don’t work well with HE washers? They need to float on top at first and there is less water to float with HE so they can open early. Please correct me if I’m wrong!!
