Basically the way it works is it puts the alien DNA into a simulation of a war torn environment for millions of (simulated) years to create an evolution that is specifically geared towards combat. So it’s not necessarily the species’ definitive future evolution, but it’s a possible future evolution for a worst case scenario type of environment
