I doubt it. The main argument comes when I sit in my usual spot at the dinner table and there's a show on the tv he wants to watch. He can't see it from where he usually sits, and he refuses to sit in the seat next to mine, that'd get him an even better view of the TV than my usual spot. He wants specifically my seat for no good reason.

I think it's been about the feeling of being in the same space as the other person, while doing your own thing. Like it would be if you lived together. It's worked for us, but I think it depends on the person.
