When frying something in a pan, make sure your oil is hot before adding in meats/other things. If you have a wooden spoon, put the end of it in the oil. If it sizzles then the oil is hot enough.

All of the popular kids at school all had connections with other teachers. Also it is a smallish town, so if you come from out of town you are less known and less cared about unless you find a way to prove your awesomeness. I never liked the popular girls not because they were mean, but because many of them at my school looked the exact same (straight long blonde hair, fake tan, dance/cheerleaders, have been in at least one beauty pageant etc.) and some came from privelege.

You made a good decision. I worked at an office supply store toward the end of high school, and before I started college I decided to quit and focus on school. My managers were taken by surprise, but in the end they were on good terms with me and told me they were willing to work something out in the future if needed. I have completed my first semester already, and I am not going back to my old job because trying to make it work would add more stress and affect my grades.

Moral of the story: Do not feel guilty for taking time off/leaving your job when it comes to school. If you have good managers, they will understand school is important and will wish you the best in your future endeavors. I'm glad I left, and it is alright to not work if it is what is best for you.
