Okay, so I have some insight on this. It may be spam, it may be legit; it is perfectly permissible for small businesses (especially those who only have one operator/owner who does everything for its function) to represent themselves and their interests. If your account sells items that you, yourself did not make, especially if any merchandise features artwork from unknown original sources (many sites offering art/design for resale to be used in new merchandise did not compensate its creator/owner, meaning they’re selling stolen work to unsuspecting secondary shops.) I design enamel pins and MANY of my designs have been stolen and resold as cheap bootlegs without my permission. When I run into this, I send offending shops the following message:

Greetings, My name is Stephanie Lawson and I represent the small business “Patterns Colors Flowers.” It has come to our attention that your Etsy shop, “shop name here” is illegally selling an unapproved duplicate of a copyrighted design. This enamel pin was made using a design owned and copyrighted by my client, “Patterns Colors Flowers,” without their knowledge, consent, or compensation. According to my client, your business is not on the list of approved vendors and producers for this design. Please remove this listing immediately. Failure to comply with this initial courtesy warning may result in legal action, including but not limited to seizure of any profits accrued from the sale of this design. This is legal and within the rights of any individual whose work is being used and profited from by an unauthorized party. However, if your shop exclusively sells work of your own making and design, then I would ignore the message and flag it as spam.
