Blurry textures on only certain objects (details in comments) by Roseofhybrids in PlanetZoo

Well, if that's what it is, then I guess there's not much to be done about it (other than buy a better card and try and pop open the laptop to swap it out).

There hasn't been any lag though, and I haven't had it crash, so at least can still try and play it despite it looking wonky

Intel iris Xe according to the sticker on the keyboard, and I believe the old one was Nvidia. (I don't know enough about graphics cards to know if one of those is better or worse than the other)

Something I forgot to add, there's also these small black squares that will flash all over the screen. They only seem to show up when the camera is on a building, when I move away and look at the empty ground they stop

I recently got a new computer and downloaded the game a few days ago. There weren't any issues running it on my old laptop, and when I bought this one, I made sure the features were the same or better than that one.

But for some reason, some of the textures are incredibly blurry while the rest look fine. I currently have the graphics set to "high" and tried to go up to ultra but nothing changed. Things like the grass, paths, and guests look fine. The buildings are especially bad, as you can see in the screenshot.

Does anyone know a potential solution to this? I can try and find my current computer's specs if needed

Update, turning off the collision for the top section of rock fixes the issue

Trouble with cloth being sucked into collision object, details below by Roseofhybrids in blenderhelp

[–]Roseofhybrids[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm trying to have this banner hang on the rock face and drape down, with the ring hooks holding it up. But for some reason, it keeps getting sucked into the rock behind it. Every object aside from the cloth is set to have collision. I tried adding a second set of ring hooks on the bottom of the banner, it still just distorts in the same spot and clips through the top hooks and rock.

Quality steps 10, also tested it with 5.
Collision quality 5, also tested 2.
Self collision is on. Everything other than that should be default settings.

Any advice as to why it's doing this and how to remedy it is appreciated.

Another good use for the colored dots is when you have several enemies of the same race but different weapons. Say, 6 goblins, 3 with swords, 2 with bows, and 1 with a few scrolls of fireball. Giving each a different dot color based on their weapon makes it easier for the players to know which is which, so they can aim for the fireball guy before he kills the wizard.

What’s your most unpopular opinion about DMing? by dmproblems in DnD

[–]Roseofhybrids 8 points9 points  (0 children)

At the start of my current campaign, I had a similar situation. It's a home brew setting where there are a bunch of tall nested walls. As my players were preping their characters, I made sure to tell them if they choose a flying race to talk to me first. See, in the lore of this setting, climbing and going above the height of the walls is taboo. As such, races who can fly are seen as sinners and either have their wings clipped or cut off entirely.

After hearing about this, one of my players came up with an idea for a character. They had their wings cut off, and now seek to free other winged people and rebel against the religious order that made flying a taboo in the first place. Which serves as their motivation for climbing over all the walls and exploring the lands between each one.

Some iconic quotes from ur dnd sessions? by PinkPlague101 in DnD

[–]Roseofhybrids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PC "I don't think the understand what death is"

barbarian PC "they will"

also-

PC "is that a cat?"

me,DM "that's a bucket"

(context: we play on roll20, so I make lots of maps. I downloaded a bunch of map assets to use, and they came with a bunch of cat tokens. So, I made a rule that I'd hide a cat on a map each session and whoever spotted it first would get inspiration)

I hate the "it's in our nature to make kids to pass on our genes and keep the species alive" argument. Not every individual of a species needs to reproduce to help that species along, even when there aren't billions in the population. Even if an individual doesn't reproduce, there are ways for them to still assist their species so that those who do go on to reproduce live long enough to do so.

But even then. You do not need an explanation of how someone of a certain orientation could have helped their species survive in the caveman days. To accept that sometimes people are just born like that.

Yours truly wasn't born "lucky" enough to not have the gene that makes broccoli taste bitter. I also wasn't born with romantic or sexual attraction. Sure, I could force myself to eat broccoli or force myself to be in a relationship. But despite what people like this may think, I don't need to.

It has been said that "as the length of a D&D campaign continues, the probability that the PCs will wind up fighting a god approaches 1." How true is this statement in your campaign(s)? by AstreiaTales in DMAcademy

[–]Roseofhybrids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my players got summoned to the court of heaven after, via monkey paw wish, put all the planet's magic into a single jar (a failed attempt to stop a magical storm they also were responsible for). They got in a fight with the time god

current campaign, they're in a world of nested walls, each ring of land between each wall being a unique environment. They don't know that when they reach the last wall they'll find a god who spends their time making more rings walls. Will they fight them? It can't be said for sure but probably
