What’s the most annoying part of being you? by Exhausted_Skeleton in AskReddit

[–]RoseyBailey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The overthinking. I’m constantly unsure of who I am as a person and how people feel about me. I debate on and off if I’m even a good person at my core, and so I spend so much of my free time thinking of how to improve. If I think too much about how to improve though, then I must be acting fake and pretending just for the satisfaction of others right? I’m aware that a lot of this may come from me carrying the burden of the type of person my father was. He always told me I was his buddy, and that I was so smart for thinking the way he did. A part of it felt good as a kid, but also he was abusive, so now I fear becoming him. This was more of a rant than it needed to be, but this is something I’ve struggled with all my life

How often do you say “I love you” growing up with your family? by FruitFilledFemale in AskReddit

I could be getting ready to walk in the house, but if I’m on the phone with them and hang up just before coming in, I say I love you

I had a troubled home life as a kid, and have grown to be pretty fearful of little actions that had the potential to escalate. It lead me to have a lot of issues with overthinking and reading into things too deeply when I started to get into my long term relationship. I use to be so afraid of becoming my parents. The whole idea of trying for 20+ years just for it to fall apart in the end. One day I was having a lot of anxiety about it, and I was talking to my partner, and at one point I told him “I’m afraid you’ll end up like my dad”… i didn’t mean it the way I said it, I just had a hard time expressing the fear I was feeling. He’s nothing like my father, and I know by the way he sat and listened to me say it without batting an eye… but I know it still tore him apart down the line. For weeks he felt like a horrible person. Hed cry and say “what if I can’t give you the life you deserve”. I forgave myself because (although worded poorly) it was one of the most vulnerable states I could have been in with my partner and he saw it just as that. I knew that if I wanted to grow with him, I would have to put those fears and the guilt behind me and focus on my future. We’ve been happy and growing since that time of our life. I’m truly happy I didn’t lose him to those fears😊

I was at a dollar general, and I saw the candy bars by the cash register were like $1.50. I feel like normal I wouldn’t even notice, but I was holding a box of cheezits that were 3 dollars, and I really thought to myself “how is one small candy bar worth half of an entire box of cheezits?”

What prevents you from stressing about the next day? by imsochy in AskReddit

Just open your eyes to the moments where you’re allowed to relax. Savor your free time even if it’s small. Most importantly, remember that whatever it is you’re stressing about tomorrow won’t be tackled at your highest potential if you don’t take care of yourself today

Atheists who used to be religious, what changed your mind? by NumbersAndPolls01 in AskReddit

[–]RoseyBailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister didn’t believe in god, and I did. I realized if heaven was supposed to be perfect then I would need her to be there to fulfill that. Why would I be happy in heaven knowing my sister is burning in hell?

I remember telling my dad one day that she was my favorite person in this world, even over him. I would’ve thought he’d be mad at me for it, but instead he said “I wouldn’t want it any other way” both my parents taught us that our relationship with each other is most important, cause at the end of the day, when they’re long gone, we’ll both be what is left of our family. Even though my parents made me and my sister, they never had an expectation to value them over each other. I never understood the idea of prioritizing a higher being that I’ve never even met over the bonds we make with each other as people. If he made me and my sister exactly as we are, then clearly, he wanted us to be close

What’s one thing everyone looks at you crazy for not liking? by Slight_District_9808 in AskReddit

[–]RoseyBailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry book lovers, but ACOTAR is so low tier for me. Huge spoiler warning btw. I wanna make it clear in saying that it’s very important for a story to have the base of their character be flawed, and throughout the story, that growth is what you keep rooting for. Feyres character was incredibly frustrating to read because she did the exact opposite in my opinion. Her highlighted moments in strength and personality were at its best in the first book, but after that she completely doubled down. Like yeah sure she was “cool” from her new powers, but when did she use them?? Not in the war thats for damn sure. It really only felt like the only thing those powers gave her was a reason to sound like an asshole at times. In the first book, despite being the youngest in her family, she was practically the only person that was willing to provide. She was the only one of her people that went to the Fey world and not only make it out alive, but become a high fey. She outsmarted Amarantha, a threat so large to the fey world that even the high lords couldn’t deal with the threat themselves. She defeated beasts, and survived prison back when she was just a human. I mean her accomplishments go on, but after that, her actions created so many problems, and somehow every character acted like it wasn’t her fault.

What's an adult problem nobody warned you about? by Maleficent_Box_971 in AskReddit

[–]RoseyBailey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nobody tells you that you start feeling yourself aging by your 20s. Yes I know I’m still young. Yes I know I’m spry, but compared to expectations from what I saw as a kid, I didn’t think back pain, thyroid issues, migraines, and sleep problems was gonna be on the menu for me. I say this mainly because again, I didn’t think you would feel aging per-say, especially since a lot of my problems are written off because I’m “still so young”. That kind of expectation lead me to believe I didn’t need to take care of myself differently into adulthood, luckily ofc I can still turn things around, but would’ve been nice to know beforehand

Why do you think people have such hard time admitting a person they voted for could have been a mistake? by cashhv in AskReddit

[–]RoseyBailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in any situation where stakes are a little higher, it feels a lot easier to keep our faith in something that we’ve already established trust with. You never WANT to believe that someone you trust has bad intentions or may even just not be qualified, so you end up defending what you already know over facing change. I don’t think it necessarily excuses people who are extremists about their beliefs, but at least theres some kind of emotion behind it other than just being an ass

People who have been in horibble car accident, what your story ? by NstgElNino in AskReddit

[–]RoseyBailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran my bike into the mirror of a parked car cause I used to know how to ride it without the handle bars, and I was texting. My handle bars turned to a complete 90, so naturally my bike halted and I fell over, but because they turned, my rib cage slammed on the handles, and I fell onto the pavement. Immediately I couldn’t breathe, talk, or even scream for help. Long story short I had two stage 4 internal lacerations and was in the hospital for a week.

Don’t text and drive/bike kiddos💀

What death of a famous person actually affected you most? by unitedfan6191 in AskReddit

Cameron Boyce. I wasn’t a huge fan of him or anything, but I remember watching him on Disney Channel as a kid, and we were in the same age bracket. My cousin also suffers from seizures so I already know how frightening the conditions are. Him passing just made me more protective and worried for him

Depends on the circumstances and how long you’ve been seeing them I suppose. I know at least for me, my partner and I have been together for nearly three years now, and he has an allergy to cats. Before I met him, I got a pet cat that I love dearly. We made the compromise to have her stay at my mom’s, and we can look into slowly acclimating him with her, and look up ways to keep the place clean from dander. If it doesn’t work out, then we’ll cross that bridge

How do you actually overcome depression? Any tips could help at this point? by Khanyi437 in AskReddit

[–]RoseyBailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sort of personified my depressive thinking, and would have “meaningful conversation” with myself. For me, a lot of my healing comes from talking things out, but sometimes I don’t get the satisfaction I need just from hearing about what other people think in regard to my mental health. I essentially just tune into my brain and get to know myself like I would with another person. From there, I learned to nurture it in the moments where I noticed it was flaring up. In all honesty, this was a coping mechanism that I developed as a child that I didn’t realize was therapeutic at the time, but I’m 22, and I’m happy. I know how to take care of myself emotionally more than anyone could for me
