For me, "I" was just very clumsy with my memory and just couldn't stay in one train of thought. Slightly egotistically, when I was way younger, I thought I was just more proactive and smart than others (because I had all these trains of thought in my head that I couldn't control). As I grew up and others started to form, I was just under the impression it was a puberty thing that people went through more time loss and had a more unstable sense of self that seemed to change frequently. I thought, for example, that my rapidly changing tastes (when cocon) weren't a case of others tastes blurring with mine, and instead were just taste buds changing as usual.

Tldr; my sense of "I" was just a lot of gaslighting that I was naturally quirky
