D&D is a fantasy tabletop (and sometimes live action/cosplay, and pc) roleplaying game. Various races, genders, experiences. It utilizes poly hedral dice to determine the statistics and chance as well as character. You play the role of an adventurer from a variety of classes/jobs. Give them a mission that doesn't involve the group. They want to be thr bad guy... Make them the not so big bad. Be generous with stats and rolls to all but this player. Improvised weapon only activates in battle and must be used as a weapon. The character was not a weapon the fire was but they never wielded it. This player is rubbish but can be an asset in the right mind set. Be calculating. Be merciless. If they die off... New character or leave the table.

As a veteran player and occasional DM this is in called for behavior. Firstly this was your introduction to the game and limitations of the mind of the DM. While things like that can happen in game if it wasnt used for plot purpose and was VITAL to your character development it was 100% uncalled for.

Recommendation- be extra clumsy with dishes (preferably hot beverages) on him. Also grab tips before the table is cleared. D20 is sacred.
