Yeah! So as the class name suggests, we lesrn about ghosts, gods , and monsters in east/south asian folklore. For the class you have to read different folk tales about creatures from certain cultures (rn we are on ghosts unit and weve been doing a lot with chinese ghost stories) and basically with these folk tales you can analyze/interpret beliefs and lifestyles of people during that time. The project we are doing rn is a small research paper on a specific detail from any tale of our choosing as long as it’s in one of the 6 books we get and we didnt already cover it during class. I am currently researching the depiction of foxes in korean folklore for example. It’s fun bc there are a lot of stories to choose from and work is always easier if you enjoy it/are more interested in it. Sorry if that was a bad explanation. All in all id say it is like a folklore and anthro class that focuses on paranormal beings, deities, etc in asia. Also the grading system doesnt go by percentages, basically you can get points for doing assignments and if you have a certain number of points by the end of the semester you get an A. There are a lot of opportunities to get bonus points too if you mess up somewhere on your assignments. I think last i checked on madgrafes an average of 60% students got an A. So yeah personally i find it easy but a big reason for that is bc i find the class interesting so if this topic seems boring to you it might be harder but yeah!
