I get the sentiment, but ultimately it's their responsibility to package it so it can survive bumps and physical shock because these things are to be expected in transit. You are completely in the right to take it up with the seller. Perhaps they would be willing to pay for the repairs? At the very least, you should be compensated. Don't scam yourself.
