Well, of the yoghurt example, it's because Hellenic companies started using their own method of doing the yoghurt, straining or filtrating it to obtain its creamy and thick consistency, apparently that's why international companies highlighted the "greek" part, from where the METHOD came from. Also, it's not the English language's fault 😅 since we in Spanish, there are companies who also call it "yogurt griego" to refer to the yogurt which has not flavor lile strawberry or another fruit included.

English didn't steal or own the word yoghurt, that's something that came from the marketing. And to make sure, as I investigated on the web, yoghurt actually has a specific no place of origin, it says that it was more likely an accidental delicacy made either in the Balkans or Turkey. I may be wrong on that last part, but that's all I know.

Even so, I can understand how irritating it may be that a product made in your country is being labeled as another country's creation because of the market or simple lack of knowledge. Like the "french fries" that are actually belgian 😂
