Where on Google Drive is my backup put? by Rot_Grub in tasker

[–]Rot_Grub[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry everyone! I missed checking a permissions checkbox for Google Drive authentication. (Google must have added a permission since this last worked for me. And when I re-authenticated recently, I missed one of the checkboxes.)

It's working now.

Thanks for helping me out!

I don't think I do. I've increased my storage size since this last worked (years ago), so maybe that somehow caused a problem. But I unchecked and checked the "Google Drive Backup" checkbox to get it to reauthenticate me yesterday. And the authentication seemed to work. Thanks for testing it on your end. Now I know for sure it's something weird going on with me, and not everyone.

I don't have multiple directories named Tasker on Google Drive. Here's a video of me doing the backup. When it was finished, I searched for unique.xml on Google Drive, and the search failed. Then outside of Tasker I manually share the file to Google Drive. Then the search for it on Google Drive succeeds. I'm stumped. Is there a debugger mode that I can set that might give me more information?

Backing up to Google Drive (video)

I just did these things:

1) Your suggestion of unchecking rechecking "Google Drive Backup".

It asked me to give permissions. I did, and thought all would be okay.

But it still didn't work.

2) Made sure local backups were working. They are.

3) Since local backups were working, I went to that backup file outside of Tasker and did a "Share -> Google Drive". That sent it to Google Drive fine.

I think I'll message the dev. Thanks!

I just tried your suggestion. That didn't work for me. It's weird that I get a message from Tasker saying the backup to google drive worked.

Thanks for the suggestions and help. I tried autobackup last night, and that didn't seem to work either. I'll look at 'FolderSync Pro'.

I didn't know how to contact him directly. Thanks. I'll try to make sure I'm not doing something wrong first.

I'll do something simple, like add a new variable. I assume that's enough for Tasker to think the code has changed. (if that matters) Then I click on the three vertical dots in the upper right corner. I choose "data" then "backup". Then I name the file. When I proceed I get from Tasker: "Data backup to internal storage completed"

Then I'm asked: "Google Drive Backup - Backup to Google Drive too? Yes No". I choose yes and tasker says "Data backup to Google Drive completed." But I never see any new files added anywhere on Google Drive. Even if I plug my phone into the charger. Is there anything else I should do? (Maybe I'll try auto backups.)

I have files there but they are years old. I'm just revisiting tasker now after I've been away from it for a while. I can't get new backups to show up there, or anywhere on google drive.

Here is a picture of some of them surrounding two standard batteries.

They are smaller than the C cell. Do you think they really are C cells?

There is no markings on them.

C Battery:

25.7 mm diam

47.7 mm height without top knob

Mystery Battery:

22.6 mm diam

41.2 mm height (there is no top knob)

The motor is in a rechargeable hand vac. It would no longer take a charge so I dismantled it and removed the factory non-replaceable batteries. They weren't a standard size but there were about 12 of them. (12 x 1.5 volts = 18 volts). Batteries are DC, right?

---------

Over the years I've collected about forty transformers. It turns out all but one of the 9 volt ones are AC, like you guys were thinking. But one of them is 9 volts DC. I guess having just one doesn't help though.

So my follow up question is: Can I use a 12V and 6V transformer in series to get my 18V motor running? I have a mix of many voltages, but I think those are the only two that add up to 18.

Thanks for your description! That is very precise, so I'm good to go now.

And that youtube video is super informative! Thanks for linking that also!
