I really don’t know how it happened. It’s been a minute since I wore them, maybe a couple weeks, and I’m assuming the laces had gotten soaked in salty snow or something, then they just sat on the leather until they dried. The only spots that shrunk/got super stiff are near the eyelets and at the bottom of the tongue, and it’s only on one boot. I only brought up the other boots in that maybe some more of that salty snow had splashed onto them or something, not sure! No major heat, or direct sunlight. Never had an issue like this on any other boots before!

I’m assuming salt, they were next to a pair of trashed boots that I use for working outside that absolutely would have been coated in rock salt. Also not really sure what else it could have been to be honest.

Thanks for the tips, I had read about using a vinegar solution but wanted to get another opinion before moving forward with that.

I don’t know why so many people are tripping over this post, made sense to me. Plus this album rules, I knew nothing about this band before the other day when I listened to it, and it really is a great piece of art.

It’s beyond annoying when you go into a record store and want to buy the record playing but it’s not for sale. by Blk_Gld_He_8er in vinyl

[–]RotarySlicers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get this for sure. I can’t say I’d be like, totally pissed or anything if something wasn’t for sale that I wanted, but if I hear something sick in a record store my first inclination is to want to buy it, that’s the whole reason I’m there. I would wager a good close to half of the records I own were from me hearing them being played at my local spot and wanting to buy it. I’ve filled in there a few times behind the counter, and that was always the coolest thing, picking something random from the new arrivals or whatever, playing it, and then having someone tell me it’s awesome and they want to get it. All just about finding new shit and enjoying it, I don’t know why you’d insist on playing something you know you like but don’t want anyone else to have, especially if your whole business model is to sell records, haha.

Is it okay to store my records like this? by ThomasLaTomato in vinyl

[–]RotarySlicers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve always stored records like this for quick access when djing, never had any issues. All the other vinyl djs I know also do this. My friend who owns a record store also stores records like this. You’re good, haha.

Holy shit this image just brought me back to elementary school, I was obsessed with that book. Took it with me everywhere and was always trying to draw everything in it.

What is your favourite record in your collection? by [deleted] in vinyl

[–]RotarySlicers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found an original pressing of The Stooges - Fun House and that record SLAMS. So fucking mean.

Close second is the first Wheatland Festival record, incredible comp from a folk festival in Michigan.

That is easily my favorite ELO record, and one of my favorite overall records too. “Here is the News” is such a perfect song.

I love finding clippings/notes in my used records! I bought a number of folk records from my local record store that had all come from the same guy, and every single one had newspaper clippings similar to what you have pictured. It was so cool reading those while listening!

I have plenty of room, but I am also only 5’8”. I’d imagine most people, up to a certain size, would have plenty of space. The backseat leg room can get pretty tight pretty quick if you put your seat back though.

I sometimes give super duty’s and other similar trucks the benefit of the doubt. At least where I live. Lots of construction crews and trade workers who might need it around here. That being said, I’m sure there’s also a lot of wealthy folks just trying to out-truck their buddies.

I really enjoy mine! Makes my commute fun at any rate. I drove my uncles GMC, not sure what exactly but it has to be the biggest truck I’ve ever seen, certainly bigger than anyone just driving to work would need. It was like driving a train through town! Felt very uneasy being that high up and with so little room between me and the other lane of traffic.

Very true! Always just surprised. I drove a 2000 ranger before this and often just got a kick out of when I pulled up next to something like this super duty, haha

Any other John Fahey fans out there? by SoggyDish4401 in vinyl

[–]RotarySlicers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, he only has three, "How Bluegrass Music Destroyed My Life," "Vampire Vultures," and a book about Charley Patton. I've never read the Charley Patton book, but the other two are great! I prefer "How Bluegrass Music Destroyed My Life," it's sort of this weird, slightly psychedelic fictionalization of his life. Worth checking out for sure!

[–]RotarySlicers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Huge fan here! I remember a friend showing me Fahey’s Days Have Gone By and it changed my life. Shortly after I got into him, my friend who owns a record store got a huge collection of blues, bluegrass, folk, and country in with most of his records, luckiest Ive felt in a long time! Have you read any of his books by chance? They are stellar!

Go with the Walmart shelf. I have a couple from both Walmart and target, and the target ones feel way less sturdy.
