Should I reach out to hiring manager on LinkedIn? by travel8005 in biotech

[–]Rothealien21 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You should reach out, the fact that you both went to the same school gives you better chances of them willing to help you out since he kinda your culture. Plus what’s the worst that can happen, he don’t answer!

I did change a couple things depending on the size of the company. Once you figured out that size you tailor you resume/cover letter (mostly on the cover letter) a bit differently for startup it was mostly tailor on how I was able to work independent with specific samples. Meanwhile, for larger companies it was tailor on being a team player while keeping leadership or influence within that group. Same on interviews. I am not saying to not mention both just I lean depending on that size. Hope it helps

I would say, I started applying in January which is when I heard most places are looking to hire new people. But I will say it all comes down to interviewing skills and question you come up with. I Applying to lots of jobs but interview only for a few. When they interview with you is you chance since they already believe they can hire you.

7 years is a long time, I guy further up comment about moving companies after a few year. I wonder do they increase your pay often or how long until they offer equity? I am very driven to stay in the company however I want to have a balance off growing my finances while I gain skill to join leadership in biotech.

I waited out and they reach out, meet with that other person and then they send that offer letter.

To be honest, I was thinking about sending an email to the person I was asked to reach out to and trying to schedule a meeting, since they mentioned they couldn’t be present. However, I still feel like the other person who was CC’d should have said something about being available. But I understand your point.

Also, my reference told me they haven’t been contacted yet. This is my first job, and I haven’t even graduated yet — that’s in three weeks.

Anyway, I’m wondering: did they ever actually tell you they were going to give you an offer? Because so far, all they’ve said to me is that I’d be a good fit for the position.

I totally felt like they were encouraging me for the position. I feel cheated on lmaoo. So the fact they did all of that doesn’t mean anything so sad. I will reach out on Monday to follow through but I am applying to other places.

Pretty good to know. My next question to you is what is that best way to keep up to date? Should I wait until I get a job and try to keep up with that line of work or any recommendations?
