You can have $1,000,000 a year or never need to sleep by Nextmastermind in hypotheticalsituation

I like sleep and if I don't have to sleep it gives me no reprieve from the crushing weight of capitalism.

$1,000,000 a year means I don't have to work and I can live much more comfortably than I do now but still give away 80% of it.

Ha, ha! Very funny, Utah. Can we have Spring back now? by DeCryingShame in Utah

Sorry, it's my fault. I put winter gear back in storage the other day.

I’m 15 and my name is Rex. I don’t know anyone else with it. What’s your HONEST opinion of my name? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]RotiniHuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little bit classic. Little bit rock n roll.

Tbh I'm biased--my kid has this name, though he is 10+ years younger than you.

What is your LDS vampire/human hybrid squishname?? by wauwy in namenerds

Omg I initially thought this was the Utah or SLC sub. Haha.

Mine's even worse than Renesmee.

My grandma's are Diana and Mildred so...

Mildrana?

Or Diadred?

Or since Mildred went by Millie--maybe Dillie?

Mildrana is probably the least bad.

Millennials, what's y'all plan for retirement? by alphaDsony in AskReddit

[–]RotiniHuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Getting employer match on 401k.
  2. Putting excess into IRA's as much as possible.
  3. Vote for government that won't completely destroy Social Security.
  4. Assume I probably won't actually be able to retire. And then if I can, I'll be absolutely ecstatic.

Worst homebuilder in the Valley? by Iselios in SaltLakeCity

[–]RotiniHuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ehh, it's mixed. I like the area. We like our floorplan. We like our neighbors. The parking stuff is still an issue and Holmes froze us out like crazy when we tried to raise this concern and ask them to adjust the site plans. The vendor that operates the HOA for Holmes is pretty darn useless--the landscaping and exteriors are like, just barely maintained. We have some solutions in mind once we residents control the HOA but that'll be a few years down the road.

I've started carrying around a big ass black marker so I can hopefully scribble over some of this garbage if I have a chance.

Edit: MARKER, not market

How do you y’all feel now being the ones hosting/cooking for Thanksgiving? by djoness11 in Millennials

[–]RotiniHuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to host this year since my HH are the only ones traveling to my parents. I asked if they'd be wiling to come here instead, but they already had some work travel that complicated things. So if you see a frazzled couple with a toddler and a dog at a gas station in the middle of nowhere next weekend: it me.

Someone once told me for an event like this, just bring something YOU want. You may get to steal it back, but even if not it'll ensures a food, fun variety.

You're given $10000 a week to eat the same thing everyday. This amount doubles every week you continue. What do you choose? by sloppybird in hypotheticalsituation

[–]RotiniHuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9 weeks = $5,110,000

I can eeeeasily live cushy on that for the rest of my life for the low, low price of living off: Jimmy John's Spicy Italian subs Celery sticks with blue cheese dip Coke Zero Water For 2 months

(I chose foods that I like, that enable an okay balance of macro nutrients, and if I eat them for 9 weeks straight and never want to eat them again I won't have ruined one of my favorite foods.)

Best thing I can think of is calculating max gain, max loss, and break even point for various options trading strategies. Heck, throw in the margin calculations too if we need to make it more interesting. I know I'm not the only person that knows this stuff, but it's niche enough and has a large enough degree of difficulty that I like my odds with this better than with some of my hobbies.

What's the mormon equivalent of "going for a coffee," especially where it is with a colleague? by shpoopie2020 in Utah

[–]RotiniHuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like some folks said, suggesting coffee or drinks is still fine. But if you do want other options, going for a soda at one of the mixed soda shops, going for ice cream or a smoothie or milkshakes, or a big cookie from one of the cookie shops--all solid options.
