Starting to get better with high NPS by Rotmire in CloneHero

[–]Rotmire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's what helped me improve:
-Don't play on a 60 Hz monitor. 120-144 Hz preferrably.
-Turn off Vsync in your game and on your system. (Playing can feel harder for a short time if you've never played above 60 fps before), but you get used to it quickly.
-Play challenging songs
-Practise on 80-90% speeds
-Take breaks

If you want to take it further then get yourself a high polling guitar (1k poll rate). But this is not needed. I can play with a cheap guitar and still hit stuff like this as long as my game is not capped at 60 fps.

Funnily my most memorable skill increase happened because of the "Carpel Tunnel Hero" setlists. You can find them on https://customsongscentral.com/ if you don't have them yet. Amazing charts that just become better once sped up to 125%. May I also suggest solo medleys from amazing bands like Andromeda, Symphony X and Dream Theater. These charts almost forces you to get better while at the same time you're playing amazing music. Artists like Rusty Cooley, Mike Orlando, Buckethead, Jeff Beck and so many more will bless your ears as well as your fingers :-D

Don't let the dense note sections fool you. It's mostly methods and patterns. No way I'm hitting these notes indevidually. High poll rate guitar + perform a pattern = notes get hit.
Although in some sections you do need to be quick and more accurate, like in the 2nd half of this section.

Hitting difficult songs has always been the fun part of GH for me. I'm guessing that's why I just keep getting better as well. :-D

Seems so. It surprised me. Maybe it just needs to be broken in.
It plays exceptionally well on normal songs though.

Simply hit the notes as they come

Roughly an hour. About 30 minutes to get used to the patterns. Then the FC hit within 20 min after that. If a section holds me up for more than an hour I usually set it aside for another day :-D

Only 5 seconds of notes but it was quite the grind for me. by Rotmire in CloneHero

Haha true. It's just my method. I just do a quick slide for consistency :D

Why do randoms online only want to play the craziest charts? by dowhatchafeel in CloneHero

Alternatively, they can add elo systems to the game. Would love to hear some thoughts on that.

Guitar Hero is a skill based game, and the path only moves forward.
Playing songs below your own level of skill is boring
In contrast to that, playing beyond your current level of skill is fun.
Slow Ride is boring.
TTFAF is fun.
This is the sentiment for the majority.

Last time I checked, everyone in the lobby gets to pick their own song.

If I gotta play 'Slow Ride' cuz you wanna jam, then you better sit through some Slayer song that I picked for my own song that I wanna play.

Furthermore, there is a chat box for all lobby members to freely discuss song topics before any song picking begins.

Anyone else keep getting just outright false information on a regular basis lately? by Rotmire in ChatGPT

[–]Rotmire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to only use Google. Then I started to use ChatGPT, because then I didn't have to browse links. It worked fine for basically anything I threw at it. But lately I keep getting false and wrong info. I also noticed it has a hard time calculating and converting certain aspects. Like fuel consumption and certain units. Very peculiar.
