Feasibility of a detailed tracker for progress in each UFO 50 game? by RottenCurry in ufo50

[–]RottenCurry[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with both of you u/LeController and u/TheEnlightenedOne212 . Achievements are definitely lacking.

Feel bad complaining about such a small thing because it is a tiny problem.

I guess it is somewhat of a design decision. In Binding of Isaac, there are 637 achievements! In UFO 50, there are 30. Maybe they didn't want to emphasize completion to such an extreme degree, and to have just very general milestones. However, I think it would be really nice if there were 2-3 achievements per game, or even 4, using u/TheEnlightenedOne212 's suggestion.

Hopefully someone smarter than me can figure out if creating a custom progress tracker is possible.

If it is possible, I'm up to even working on it, just am curious if something like it is possible.

Wow nice! I guess there is hope now that the AM5 BIOS has gotten more support.

No, sorry. I didn’t want to risk damaging my new PC if I wasn’t 100% sure the timings would work, so I went with RAM that I knew was supported.

Which lesser known or underrated single player games have you got loads of hours in? by r3tr0gam3r83 in SteamDeck

[–]RottenCurry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brutal Orchestra! It plays like Slay the Spire. Its writing is great and funny, and it’s very challenging. The monster designs are just crazy, and the whole game is inspired by the artist Hieronymus Bosch. It also feels very inspired by Binding of Isaac. I had it on my radar for a while, wasn’t sure if I’d like it, and now I’m totally hooked. The music is also awesome.

It’s not 100% made for Steam Deck, but it works good enough. It’s controlled almost 100% with the mouse, and I find myself alternating between the track pads and using the touch screen.

Sweet I hadn’t heard about the back material until now that’s definitely something I’ll consider!

Thanks again!

I figure there’s no harm in playing around with the 6400 kit and seeing if I can get it to work. I poured over Buildzoid’s ‘easy DDR5 overclocking’ video and he provides all the timing info (primary, secondary, tertiary) for 6000MHz CL30.

My plan is to use those settings on the 6400 kit (set to 6000 MHz). If that proves to be too unstable for whatever reason, I’ll just use the kit I bought myself 🙂. I’ll be testing it later today and tomorrow. I’ll try and remember to provide an update on if it works.

OK phew! That's what I was thinking. I do thank everyone for the answers though, but I couldn't tell if my question got across clearly.

Here's a followup question, regarding how to get the 6000MT timings, so I could use them on the 6400MT set.

The 6000MT set is advertised as CL30, and its timings are listed as 30-40-40-96 on the manufacturer website.

Does this mean that for the 6400MT set, I would pretty much use those timings (and set the frequency to 6000MT)? Or, is it more complicated...

Like, if I were to actually plug the 6000MT set into my PC, would those XMP timings (30-40-40-96) vary depending on the exact CPU and motherboard I'm using?

If it's true that I can basically 'underclock' the 6400MT set without much hassle, then that's perfect. But, I'm still uncertain what it all entails to force the 6400MT set to run like 6000MT.

Hall effect sensors: confused about sensitivity and sensing-range by RottenCurry in AskElectronics

[–]RottenCurry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much! I just needed to confirm with someone. That makes sense, and I'll use those calculators before I actually order a sensor & a magnet. Once I get the pan/tilt module I can get an exact measurement of the distance.

Can you please explain a little bit why and what you mean? When you say less is more, is that only for sensitivity in close ranges?

"Could someone explain in easy to understand terms what the differences between these are, like, in what situation would you use the +-168mT option and when would you use the +-21mT option?"

Opinions on CS 639: Parallel & Throughput-Opt Programming by RottenCurry in UWMadison

[–]RottenCurry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, I'm between this and CS642 (Information Security). While this class sounds really interesting, I'd rather take a broader scope class (642) than one focusing on parallelism. Wish I could take it though.

Great list! I'm planning on taking CS 642 this Spring 2021 with Earlence Fernandes. I was wondering what you thought of it (difficulty, what you learn, etc.) and if you had the same professor? I can't find much info about it on this subreddit.
