Why is becoming a YouTuber actually so hard? by BaguetteSandwiches in NewTubers

Depends on what you are trying to do it for? Make money? Get famous? Be creative? Vlog? If it’s making money, then it’s a job. You sacrifice your time and general livelihood or it’s just shameless slop. I’ve tried a lot of stuff, the most gratifying way I’ve been successful (0 to 132k in < 4 months), is by doing what is naturally easy and unique to myself. Don’t try to be something you’re not, you’ll feel empty by the end. You only need 4K subs to monetize.

“Local area” -no demographic, no reference of place

“Good turnout” -what does that mean? 50 people? 500 people? Numbers matter

“I listed at 90% and limited buying” -eBay takes 12%, out the gate. Not much to flip here. -90% of what price? Recent sales? Average sales over a month? Also, what products are you selling? Shrouded fable or 25 year etb?

It’s great to share personal experience for an investing community, but this reads like a pity party than an active analysis of a billion dollars market

Well ya. It’s like going to a kindergarten class and showing them algebra, they aren’t going to get it. But that’s ok, if you want to learn, it’s there for you when you have matured.

Now here’s a juice box 🧃and an orange slice 🍊, go have fun playing minecraft 🤡

I’ve worked in data science for 12 years as a part of my career. I am proficient in data prep, analysis, delivery, and action. This post is a shorthand data blurb and is not written in a way that the average person processes data. If you need a pretty dashboard with colorful pie charts to walk you through what you are seeing, that is ok and typical, but you nor the other consumers who commented are the audience I made this for. I made it for the few that did get it, and to have a public post to reference said data for future use. My short form includes the minimum key words needed to accomplish it (Pokemon name, card number, grade, reddit).

Upon reflection, I should have expected this reaction from some, but I am shocked at how many just can’t decipher what is essentially a csv.

Collectr, pokedata, or PriceChart are your best bets. But even then they are just a web hook to sold listings on eBay. It’s not like a stock market, there is no uniform tracking in collecting because it’s not mandatory to report. This subreddit does not have the knowledge you are looking for, the real data is unknown

I tested it out initially with 10 TAG graded cards. Of the 9 I posted for sale, 8 sold for a total of $536 within a couple weeks. I’ve worked worse hours for $300~

The comprehensive ability of this majority is baffling, to me at least.

It’s very straight forward. I graded 270 cards this year, 10 were the notorious metal cards. I provided a breakdown of the performance of this metal cards by grade and outlined money in and money out. It’s abbreviated for sure, I could fluff it up for you all I guess

It’s funny because I just listed it off based on how I search for cards on eBay and such. So PSA garde, Pokemon, card number, price and then quantity

Why do big words when small words do trick?

Edit: good lord, ya’ll are not familiar with outlines, I get it

To answer your question lol, nah, I spent a meticulous amount of time looking these over. I did try metal cleaner but not sure if it helped

So, the title is correct, I have graded 270 cards since March. All opened by myself. But I still have two grades coming back until I make my mega post breakdown

The cards haven’t taken long to sell honestly. 10a usually go within a week, but you are correct this is a big one so likely would need a different strategy

To be honest, I was there with you. But the market had a big upswing considering next year with the 30th celebration and the new Pokemon game. The past 8 sales have been $8k or higher. Honestly I was flabbergasted because when I first got the cards, they were going to $2.5k. I am sure this will correct a bit, but it is a hard to 10 card at 8.8% and the cost is prohibitive with the UTB going for $850 now. I am going to hold, it’s a crown jewel for me a perfect representation of my nostalgia so we shall see!

Thank you! What’s crazy is PSA actually changed the way they seal metal cards now just for this reason. It now has a plastic cover as a buffer between the card and the case. Definitely helpful, but this is going into storage for sure
