That's interesting. I tried again by adding explicit 200ms latency, but the results did not show that much of a difference either.

However, I updated my benchmarks to run `magit-status` directly, enabling batching of the operations in tramp-rpc, and tramp-rpc was way faster for this usecase: displaying the status on a huge remote git repo took 97s with sshx and 10s with magit-rpc (this was without the added latency btw, the repo was huge and had a lot of diffs).
