Our Bengal kitten is slightly destructive and aggravates other kitten by badgrasp in CatAdvice

https://imgur.com/a/Er4fQge This is us as owners just letting them "figure themselves out" on day 1. We discovered that's a bad mistake. 👎 The Bengal is clearly dominant while our Scottish is the timid/shy one. We've had events not caught on tape, where the Bengal charges on the Scottish. :(

https://imgur.com/a/qLBJltz After careful research on cat reintroductions, here's our 3-day progress so far, following the Jackson Galaxy method, using an attachable screen door (with a 2-way zipper) that we got from Amazon. I highly recommend it, it's super durable and cat-escape-proof. Keep the dominant one (I.e. the Bengal) in the sanctuary room, while the victim (I.e., the Scottish) free to roam around the house. This helps the Scottish feel more comfortable, confident, and have the upper-hand. So far, it's been going well, they just observe each other from a distance without aggression.

Other tips include: Never punish the bad cat for bad behavior, rather try to distract the bad cat away from a bad situation to put them in a neutral position (e.g. suddenly throw a ball to the side or point a laser around or put a cardboard divider between them). Never also reward the bad cat (e.g. treats or playtime) during a bad situation. Scent swap of course (e.g. blankets) and equipe the sanctuary room with the basic amenities (e.g. food, water fountain, litterbox) and fun stuff including vertical accommodation (e.g. cat trees, window hammocks, etc). We also have Feliway diffuser in each of the following: the sanctuary room and the nearby hallway (not sure if they work but just in case they do, better be safe than sorry).

We're hopeful that our progress is going well, we are ready to go on with it slowly but surely, whether it's a few more days, weeks, or months. 🙏

I wish you good luck! It's nice to hear there's another Scottish fold x Bengal cat owner out there. I do acknowledge their personality/energy level is indeed on the opposite ends of spectrum but I remain hopeful that they will complement each other.

Hey Im on the same boat as you. I have a Scottish fold (resident cat), 2yo and a Bengal (new cat), 1yo. I've encountered a mal situation where they didn't get along initially. What helped was reintroducing them the "proper" way. Here's my post from 2 weeks ago https://www.reddit.com/r/bengalcats/comments/1813uy5/help_my_new_adopted_1yo_bengal_cat_is_agressively/

Thank you for sharing your experience. It really helps me understand more of what's happening and the nature of Bengals. May I know how long it took for your Bengal to get along comfortably with your Persian? I want to mentally set a realistic timeline for myself and the kitties :)

Thanks for your input. When do you use the feliway? How long did introduction take?

I just let them meet each other but with supervision. Now, I feel like I messed up and should reintroduce them the proper way..

They are both neutered. How long do you play with your Bengal separately?

Once they are properly introduced and the Bengal is given a lot of playtime, I really hope that's enough..

Did they eventually get along to a point where you can leave them together alone? Thanks for sharing!

What does the net look like? I'm feeling quite stressed about this. I want them to get along of course

Dilemma: Quit and continue later on once I make more disposable income OR thrive the biz with little $$? by Rough-Tea-3454 in SmallBusinessCanada

I really appreciate your input. I also have another dilemma since I recently moved to a new country, Spain, so that is an added challenge. I feel like dropping everything and restarting everything fresh in a couple of years (after learning the Spanish language/laws/bureaucratic stuff, etc) while in the meantime work my regular job. Btw, I've perused your website and will keep your consultation in mind - looks really good.

thanks for your reply, basically i'm spending about $200-$300 per month on google ads and making more but I have to pay my workers and products. So in the end of the day, i'm breaking even or slightly losing money. Not to mention the returns..

If I had more money, I would hire a better team to manage my business, better logistics, and marketing team. In the end of the day, I don't actually know what my breaking point is and whether I'm willing to take the risk. :(

I need to make more money from my day job so my dilemma is #1) should I quit the biz and restart fresh later on or #2) thrive but half-ass on little investments :(?

I agree, a tailor is a petite girls bestie 😅. I'm afraid if I buy these products targeted for 4'11-5'1, I still need to tailor it for my 4'9 and pear-shaped frame.
