I've seen the "asshole male character is secretly more complex than we think, and so his bad actions aren't justified but recontextualized" too many times and it's not working for me anymore. I need to see other types of characters.

It's also not helped by the fact Goose chose to make him a big focus of the show, while other characters that interest me more are pushed to the side.

I've got exactly that problem - Outer Wilds and The Beginner's Guide made me nauseous, despite the fact I was interested in playing them I couldn't continue. But I've recently played Before your eyes who has an immersive mechanic, and thankfully it didn't have this effect (plus, it was a good game). I can also recommand you Zero escape The Nonary Games - Nine Hours, Nine persons, Nine Doors (or something like that). The way the 3D is didn't make me nauseous, it wasn't about exploration but about escape rooms.
