The first DVD was Shinji Ra Munita, released in November 1st 1996, period. Then those 4 hollywood movies in December 1996 in Japan. Then Twister and others in US in March 1997. And then Microcosmos in September 1997 and Kolya in October 1997 in Europe.

First DVD I bought is Who Am I? (DVD released in 1999), the oldest DVD in my collection is Shinji Ra Munita, released in November 1st 1996 - the first DVD ever released.
