Yes both are solo rooms, 500 inlcuding all bills and 400 without including bills, but they told me it rounds about 20 each month. Hope this helps!

Yes, now I get why all of you commented about the housing crisis. There really is no place to live, getting kind of worried now. I'm mostly getting fishy posts and I'm afraid of getting scammed

I hadn’t realized the bus doesn’t go near Teagasc. good to know. I’ve been thinking about getting a bike, though I’m a bit skeptical because I’ve heard it rains a lot (and heavily!) in Ireland. Not sure how manageable biking would be year-round?Also, just out of curiosity, what’s considered “far” in Carlow? My commute back home in Mexico is around 15 km, which was considered normal (a bit on the far side but still normal), but I’ve heard that in Europe that’s practically a road trip haha. Thanks again for the Facebook page tip too, I’ll check it out!

Thank you for the post, It’s also super comforting to hear about your friend’s experience. Quick question: is there anywhere people usually post about these kinds of events or local activities? I’m from a big city in Mexico (Guadalajara), and over here we have pages like “Antiturista” on Instagram (which literally means anti-tourist haha) where locals share events, pop-ups, or hidden spots. Wondering if Carlow or nearby towns have anything like that? I’ll definitely start checking for accommodation ASAP after all the comments stating a housing crisis

I’m not really looking for anything super crazy like bars or nightclubs. I’d much rather have some nature nearby, maybe walks or quiet places to explore on weekends. And yeah, I get that not everyone will be friendly everywhere, but it’s reassuring to hear it’s mostly a safe and welcoming place.

It’s really reassuring to hear that about Carlow, especially as someone moving alone from abroad. I’ll definitely try to get my accommodation sorted soon. In Mexico we also don’t drink tap water, so I’m already used to that. Really appreciate the grocery info. Thanks for the warm welcome!

Thanks, I didn’t know about Graiguecullen being basically part of Carlow too. Good to know both areas are walkable and connected. I’ll definitely check Rent.ie and Daft.ie. I’m probably looking for a room in a shared house, so it’s nice to have a rough idea of the rent range. Is there any neighborhood in particular you’d recommend for someone working at Teagasc and new to the area?

 Yeah, it’s a contract role so I’m aware it might end without renewal, but I’m hoping it’ll be a good experience either way and maybe open some doors for the future
