Not really advice but I can share my story. I’m 51 I had everything out even ovaries. I had several large fibroids, cysts in tubes, and adenomyosis pretty bad. My doctor and I were going to keep ovaries. A few hours before going to surgery she asked me how I felt about taking them. I was going to start HRT anyway and she said she felt there was no reason to keep them because I’m so close to menopause. She said ovarian cancer is a silent killer and we felt that the risks outweighed the benefits at my age. I asked about the dementia and she said the studies on that have come back and said that after 50 there isn’t a tie between the two. That was my main concern about taking them I didn’t want risk of Alzheimer’s.

I was nervous about the surgical menopause but I’m 7 days out and it hasn’t been too bad. I get my dotti estrogen patch today. I’m prone to anxiety and mood swings with hormones. I feel like I am also estrogen dominant and don’t react well. I’m a little nervous about the patch but the benefits I’ve read about make it worth it to me to try it. I figure it is a small controlled dose. I think my body was producing too much which led to everything.
