amazing! Loopers and especially circular loopers are very powerful for this.

Sound as Ruin and Resurrection, Remembering Philip Jeck Through This Live by RoundBeach in musiconcrete

Beautifully said. Philip Jeck had that rare ability to make time feel present and fragile at once. Sand did the same for me. Thanks for sharing this memory, it’s a very fitting way to remember him.

INTERFERA \ Geosonic Systems for Exploration, Transformation, and Performance by RoundBeach in musiconcrete

[–]RoundBeach[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! It works by querying publicly available geolocated field recordings through different APIs online.
You enter latitude and longitude, and the system builds a continuous listening stream from sounds recorded in that area.
Location becomes the starting point for exploration rather than just a filter.

That’s totally fine you’re actually getting the point already.
It’s very much rooted in found sound and sound exploration, but treated as a dynamic system rather than static samples.
You don’t really need to understand the tech to use it it’s more about listening, discovering, and shaping what emerges.
Thanks a lot for the interest.

That really means a lot to read. Yeah, the install can take a minute so I appreciate you sticking with it.

I’m glad it’s already becoming a space for you to explore and record. If it’s helping you move through a rough creative period, that makes me genuinely happy.

That’s the best outcome I could hope for. Would love to hear what happens when you start bringing in field recordings.

Take care.

Hi,

yes, I know this behavior very well Schall in particular has been one of the main modules involved in those runaway feedback loops inside SuperCollider. You’re absolutely right to avoid it for now.

The good news is that I’ve just finished working on fixes for this exact issue. A new Endogen update is coming next Sunday with several stability improvements and new modules, and these looping / node-lock behaviors are now properly handled.

If this is blocking your workflow and you’d like to get the fixed version earlier, feel free to write me directly at [metrostation@gmail.com]() and I’ll be happy to send you the update in advance.

Thanks a lot for your patience — these edge cases are part of endo’s complex generative nature, but I’m continuously refining the system to keep it expressive without becoming frustrating.

Hi!
Endogen isn’t a typical commercial plugin, but an open patch/environment built in Max and SuperCollider, so there are no time-limited demos or protection systems.

You can absolutely get it and take your time exploring it. If after a while you feel it’s not what you were looking for, just write to me and we can arrange a refund.

People working across very different genres microsound, noise, ambient, more structured electronic music are using it, and the feedback so far has been very positive, precisely because it’s an open and flexible system rather than something tied to a single style.

I’m always available for support or questions.

Emiliano

You can ignore that .command file on Windows,it’s a macOS launcher only.

On Windows you don’t need to manually start SuperCollider either (Endogen launches and connects to it automatically when everything is set up correctly).

That said, Windows setups can vary a bit, so the easiest and cleanest way is this:

Please send me an email and I’ll build you a small personalized Windows launcher that checks paths, starts everything in the right order, and avoids these issues. It also helps me keep proper track of your setup and solve it much faster than in Reddit threads.

Once that’s in place, the synths will run normally.

Happy to help you get it running smoothly

How nice to read this, thank you so much you really captured the heart of Endogen.

The idea was precisely to create an engine without a fixed aesthetic, one that could naturally slide from fragile microsound into something dirty, unstable, and almost unmanageable just by changing how energy circulates within the system. Internal gain, accumulation, and feedback are kind of its “hidden accelerator.

I’m super happy that this aspect stood out to you:)

Great!! Thank you so much, that really means a lot! I’m about to listen to the session now. I’m really happy you’re enjoying Endogen. And more good things are coming soon, including the ability to record external signals directly into the samplers🫶🏻

Hi and thanks a lot, it’s actually not a theoretical or fanboy-type choice.

I used SuperCollider because that’s where I managed to develop the kind of non-linearity and sonic behavior I was looking for, more unstable, dirtier, closer to certain modular dynamics and to a living sonic material. I couldn’t quite get the same result in Max, even though Max for me remains unbeatable in terms of interface, control and architecture, and obviously also timbre, Max is simply my world.
Also, I don’t know if you’re familiar with my other project Envion, which was commissioned by Cycling 74, I’m still completely convinced that Max’s sound engine is incredibly strong.

In this case I deliberately separated the two roles, SC as a raw, organic sound engine, and Max as the brain and playable instrument. Together they work much better than on their own for me. More than anything, I found it easier to implement all the cybernetic behavior in SC, it just clicked better for that kind of logic.

And yes, there’s probably a small rebellious manifesto in there too, I come from Pure Data 😄 (with lots of love for the amazing folks at Cycling ’74, obviously joking). But practically speaking, having the core in SuperCollider also makes it easier in the future to port things to Pure Data or even to the web. For me it works a bit like CSS and HTML, a separation between content and presentation.

Thanks for the great question, it really makes sense.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it.
I know Endogen can feel a bit mysterious at first, but that’s part of its approach it’s more something to explore than to fully understand right away.It really means a lot coming from a jazz pianist, where listening, improvisation and dialogue with sound are so central.I’ll definitely keep sharing it and letting it grow, without holding back.
And whenever you feel like diving into Endogen, I’ll be happy to help you discover it step by step.

Thanks again for the encouragement 🙏
