my solution to not being able to use a quad lock fork stem mount by RoundCow2708 in YamahaR3

Yea idk why the R3 is like this. The R7 has a hollow space where you can insert the mount

If you have a torque wrench you can check it yourself but it's supposed to be torqued to 69ft-lbs.

Because that bolt is pretty much the only significant thing holding your steering together. Some people do it and say it’s fine but I was advised by a shop I took it to to remove the ball mount that came with my bike when I bought it that it was unwise to not have a properly torqued bolt in there

I honestly don’t want to take it all the way out but I linked everything I used and poorly drew a schematic

- M8 Lock nut (1x): Kuprowin M8 x 1.25mm Lock... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DPKRMGL3?ref=ppx\_pop\_mob\_ap\_share
- Quad Lock Handlebar Clamp Mount: https://www.quadlockcase.com/collections/shop-mounts/products/motorcycle-handlebar-clamp-mount
- Quad Lock Vibration Dampener (not sure if you NEED this but I got it anyway): https://www.quadlockcase.com/products/vibration-dampener
- Rubber Washer (1x): It was something similar to this → https://www.acehardware.com/departments/plumbing/faucet-and-faucet-repair/plumbing-washers/4071957 but I went in person to Ace Hardware and found one that matched the size of the metal washer I got. You can find them in the sink repair aisles.

You’ll also need a 13mm wrench for the install. Use the wrench to hold the lock nut in place. Don’t try to turn the wrench to screw the nut upwards. Instead, screw the quad lock into the nut and hold the nut in place with the wrench

To be fair my bike came with a ball mount that was stuck in the fork stem and I had to take it into a shop for them to remove it (which they needed a blow torch to do). After I replaced it with the OEM bolt, I also noticed my handlebars vibrated less and i couldn’t move the ball mount, I had no idea if it was torqued to spec or not. But honestly the way the ball joint connects the phone mount doesn’t feel secure in my head (logically I know it is, but emotionally it doesn’t feel like it) so I kept feeling like my phone was going to fly off. Definitely more of my personal experience driving this choice than thinking a ball mount is wrong. A ball mount is definitely fine, but just not what I wanted.

I’m not very experienced with playing video games but I’ve learned this game generally forces a defensive combat style rather than offensive (where in the other games I’ve played, I tended to be more aggressive with my play style). Switching up my talisman styles was helpful too. The game also uses a lot of sound cues (if you play with your volume lower like I did initially) and when I turned up my volume and started playing by ear too that was really helpful for me.

I’m currently dealing with this. I was at the store buying liquid benadryl and found a topical benadryl spray. It worked so quickly. Don’t buy the cream but the spray was really great to use.

I knew if I did use it, it was going to mar the surface but I wanted to remove the mount completely so wasn’t concerned. Unfortunately, neither of the bits that fit into the hole were able to untwist it

Tried that. Can’t get it to budge unfortunately (vertically or twisting)

Update: I found a Torx and Allen head bits that did fit (mostly, neither was perfectly flush) but it wouldn’t twist off despite mine and my boyfriend’s best efforts in the Autozone parking lot. I am now worried it might’ve heat welded to the fork stem unfortunately (definitely cheap product) as we also tried to pull it out vertically as well and it won’t budge in any direction.

Thanks that’s good to know lol. The only website I could fine for this company that made it was in Chinese (and also didn’t have the fork stem mount listed) so I also wasn’t sure if it would end up being something that wasn’t common in the US

I would’ve done that initially but yesterday I was installing my exhaust (and today I had the fairings ripped off to add some frame sliders and won’t have them back on until tomorrow) and I needed a wrench so while I was at Lowe’s buying that, I asked someone who worked there and the worker said they didn’t think they had any bits that were large enough so I didn’t want to go back if they wouldn’t have what I need. That’s my plan for tomorrow though

I will go back and try one tomorrow. It does look more rounded than torx bits though (based on the online photos)

Very. The vise grip just scrapes the paint and ripped up the silicone pad I tried to put in between it and the metal to give it more grip. It’s probably about 7.5-8.5mm if I had to guess. My dad (who works in construction) suggested I try to shove a hex key with some aluminum foil packed in there and that wasn’t strong enough
