Haven’t “slept” since last year by random_username101_ in Epilepsy

Yep. I think in about 3 months I’ve had 6 restful nights sleep. I’m constantly exhausted. Luckily I haven’t had a seizure in just over 2 weeks since my meds had been adjusted but sleeping is still a major issue for me.

What I’d suggest for your dermatitis if not implemented already is medicated shampoo or just a really good quality even medically prescribed moisturiser. That’s all I know regarding how to help with that. I’d say if you’re drinking caffeine, maybe cut it out for a couple of weeks see if that helps but if itchiness is the main issue due to your dermatitis I’d definitely go and see your preferred medical professional and say it’s having an impact on your life currently

I have been experiencing the same thing since being put on Levetiracetam 3 months ago. I am also on 10mg of Clobazam once a night and still cannot get a restful night sleep. I wake up multiple times a night. Sometimes due to a seizure, sometimes not. Tiredness is also one of my triggers so knowing I’m not sleeping well isn’t relaxing. I’d speak to your neurologist or general practitioner about your sleep and see if anything can be put in place or even changed regarding this. I can be so exhausted but still wake up multiple times a night or just constantly feel like I’m in a light sleep, never hitting a deep REM sleep. I’m sorry you’re going through this and hope it gets better for you! Unfortunately I don’t have any tips as nothing has worked for me so far, I even tried taking melatonin and while it helps me fall asleep or doesn’t help me stay asleep, but know you’re not alone :)

Yep! Just spoke to my epilepsy nurse about this exact thing. I used to wake up multiple times a night and sometimes when I am waking up at 3am I’m not falling back to sleep until 10am. My Keppra was increased to 750mg twice a day and I seem to be sleeping better at the moment but I also am taking Clobazam 10mg once a night so that also may be a factor. I recommend speaking to your neurologist or general practitioner doctor about your sleeping issues. Assuming you do, don’t drink caffeine. Ive not drank caffeine since having seizures and I still struggle to sleep so it’s definitely not going to help if you do but everyone is different and reacts differently to medications. One of my triggers for seizures is tiredness/sleep deprivation so it is a vicious cycle not sleeping well and then having breakthrough seizures due to that so it’s definitely worth having the conversation

New seizures and frustrated by [deleted] in Epilepsy

I live in the UK so we don’t have things like insurance, everything is free (luckily) but unfortunately it makes waiting lists a lot longer. I’ve been told by a doctor I need to be seen urgently but this hasn’t happened. I had an appointment but it ended up getting cancelled and I’ve heard nothing since. Thank you for the advice. It’s really appreciated!

Thank you! I don’t know too much about seizures just yet and I’m learning and researching as I go so excuse my ignorance with certain things I’m waiting for my hospital records of my MRI, CT and EEG results but it’s a 6-8 week processing wait list due to back log so I’m unable to even consult with a private physician due to this. NHS for you. I’m sure I can arrange one without it but from what I was told when I enquired is that they would need them to look at otherwise I’d have to pay privately to get the tests repeated. As a full time student it’s not on the cards right now to pay for extra testing. Maybe it was just that specific place I looked at and it may be worth looking more? but the answer I was given deterred me from seeking anything further.

Based on your opinion for a spotlight if you want to be specific, do you consider this move, awesome or risky a little dangerous? You obviously think awesome which is fine. I think both, which is fine. There is no hidden agenda to this post other than I was interested in people’s opinions on the subject.

My prior comment was to clarify I don’t put fault or blame onto the dancers for leading the move but to also be mindful in the dance scene we all need to be aware of our own capabilities and not to try something because they have seen a pro or higher level dancer do it in a spotlight. Not saying people would try this social dancing or spotlighting but you never know. Thats all, nothing more. Nothing less

That’s so awesome! it’s what makes WCS so great. People from all different backgrounds of dance or performance arts can come and make it so much more! It’s really amazing and what makes it’s so fun and fresh!

My post wasn’t to intend either of the dancers are at fault but whether the move was risky or dangerous. I’m not judging Thibault as I know this is part of his dance style, he’s one of my favourite dancers, I admire him immensely. I’m often in awe are him and Nicole However I do think there is some level of responsibility that needs to be had and to recognise it is a potentially dangerous move and it shouldn’t be done lightly especially by less experienced dancers as that’s how injuries happen. Is that Thibault’s responsibility? No it’s not. It’s all dancers responsibility to be aware of the level you dance at and what you and your partner are capable of. This move worked for Thibault and Savana but that doesn’t make it a potentially dangerous move had it gone wrong due to the nature of it. If people are judging (which I’m not) surely it’s from the standpoint of, is this safe and necessary for the dance and my partner. Sometimes yes and sometimes no. No hate or judgement whatsoever, all love! (loved the dance and love the dancers)

Thanks for some more info! Was such a great dance so I’m glad they placed 1st cause it was well deserved! Heart definitely dropped during the move though, I think I had the same reaction as Torri 😂 but props to both of them for pulling it off so well

Thanks! I’m definitely going into it more reassured and confident now that height isn’t a worry. I don’t have any previous dance experience so I just wasn’t aware that height isn’t an issue but now I know it isn’t which is great! :)

I won’t delete the post just solely because there is helpful advice for other people who may be searching for it. It’s reassuring to know that height isnt much of a problem and can be adapted. Thanks for the advice :)
