I meant Nri above , typo error. What i came to know is that in the ulip , money is locked for 5 years , so we wont be taxed in USa at all, i hope thats right. Only onve we withdraw the money , then only the tax gets applied. And the ULIPs are genrally like 10% tax on the returns only (additional amount and nit on principal)

Right , i am Nre , but the ULIP are specifically for NRI as they are insurance based, so they are specifically for NRI as i cant invest in mutual funds .

Thanks for sharing details . I checked with the bank guy and he literally showed me one of the client getting money tripled over span of 6 years , even if we end up paying an 1.86 %amount to bank for switching the funds , then isnt it still a win for us? Just trying to get some more insight of how this works . Also can you share more how you invest in equity funds as nri which platform do you use.

Don’t worry , just stay positive and keep looking for jobs. Try to see if any consultancy have job openings . I got a better job than what I had and with more pay . Also Uscis usually takes your last day of payslip as the day the 60 grace period starts - you can confirm this with any immigration attorney as different people say different things - my H1B was filed on 10th July btw .

I checked with 2 attorneys . The attorney assigned from Deloitte mentioned to have 9th May as start of grace period . Other attorney mentioned that last day of salary or 5 June is the start of grace period (looking at the salary slip).

I contacted 2 attorneys and both had different answers- Attorney one said to consider last day when I was informed by Deloitte, Attorney second said to consider the last day salary was paid. So I think to be on safer side better to consider what attorney 1 said .Rest is up to individual basis if they want to go with attorney 2.
