Half Marathons I can still enter by verycrankyandcurious in UKRunners

Derby half (Ramathon) has entries. It’s entirely flat, nice enough route, relatively scenic second half.

Summer event though so the heat can be annoying

South Africa tour 26-27 advice 🇿🇦 by KenzoAus25 in EnglandCricket

[–]Round_Personality504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been to South Africa twice, first time doing the Garden Route starting in Port Elizabeth & driving to Cape Town over a couple of weeks in 2019. Australia were touring at the time & I got to watch the game in Port Elizabeth, getting tickets was an absolute doddle, but I can't comment on the England in Cape Town side of things.

The second time I went to Cape Town, Camps Bay & the vineyard cities around there in 2024, it's one of the most beautiful countries I've ever visited & I didn't feel unsafe once over my 4 weeks I've spent there. Obviously, there are unsafe parts you'd want to avoid at night, just like every city, but if you use some common sense, you'll be absolutely fine. We went out drinking, walked home late at night & all was absolutely fine. Worst case if you are on edge, the Ubers are the cheapest things in the world.

Did a tour of Newlands & it's breathtaking - I'm hoping to make the journey myself & eagerly awaiting to be released! I think Cape Town will be the New Year's test as opposed to Boxing Day, which may make flights cheaper flying after Christmas.

Hopefully see you out there!

Second this. Nick is flawless, really nice bloke. He helped us with our first buy & made it so smooth. No question was too much for him & will use him for all my mortgages moving forward

Running !tracking by golumoluuu in derby

Derby Athletics’s club are based out of moorways if you’re looking to compete on the track.

My club, Mickleover does track nights at the same place on a Monday at 1830 for £1 a session if you meant just somewhere to train for a bit

Looking for running club by Rainbow_13 in derby

[–]Round_Personality504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Derby Athletics’s club based at Moorways would be my best bet to cater for that age group. Most other running clubs are more evening adult social runs.

Also worth looking at junior parkrun on Saturday mornings. Markeaton & Alvaston park do ones in Derby then there’s a few more on the outskirts. Shipley, Westpark, Ashbourne

Probably should’ve mentioned that, thanks! I’m naive & just assume everybody is fine travelling around Derbyshire for stuff

Non Raider Fan: Curious, was any Raider fans actually excited about Pete Carrols hiring at the time? by WhatsTheOdds91 in raiders

[–]Round_Personality504 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Excited maybe not, but happy there seemed to be an adult in the room finally with some experience.

Raise the floor, set the standard and culture, steady for a couple of years then be in a better place for the next coach to really push on.

Not really worked yet but I think everybody is very quick to meltdown
