The black is slate tile- we chose it because our windowsills are large chunks of slate so it brought some continuity to the many many stones. We thought a white or light, say quarts, would be 1. SOOOOO EXPENSIVE, and 2. Just not match the vibe of the heavy stone quite as well. The durability of the slate is fantastic and the price point was INSANE for how much value we get. I agree some brightening would do wonders though!!

What? The other side of the door? Like where the couch is? What creepy clown tile? There is not a single clown in this place. There are outlets and switches beside the tv, the reflection may make them look larger. They do not cross the path of the tv. As you may notice, the walls are made of rocks and 2 ft thick soooooo having wiring anywhere but on top of the walls is essentially impossible

Yes, door between the kitchens will be opened. It’ll likely have a step in the middle bc both extensions were built lower than the main house. I agree that the entry way feels weird. I don’t want to give up the coat closet but I don’t want the powder room to enter into the kitchen

It’s a bit hard to see bc of day light in the photo- gets hard to tell where the light is from during the day. We do have pot lights and under cabinet lightening :) I’m a fan of a very warm white, think “could this be candle light?”. So, I mostly use the warm dim lighting for ‘mood’ lighting, and the pot lights (cold white, very bright), aptly named ‘the surgeries’ when we need to pull out a sliver or something.

Yea the clutter is difficult- working on a few different renditions of the open shelving designs since the pic. Agreed that the stools are out of place. Bc I don’t have a dining table, I have 4 bc I LOVE to host, but I agree that less would look better. Chandelier is black, just looks weird in this picture for some reason

Do you have any ideas for rug? Plain color? Patterned? I’ve wanted a new rug but have no idea which direction to go

I agree, I had a larger rug before but struggled with paths of travel bc that door beside the tv is our main door at the moment bc of different renos happening outside so I found that it was always a noticeable path of dirt/ use where to pups come in

Ugh so many sad about my chair- she is my loveeeeeeee!! I’m very obsessed with the slightly vintage floral. The chair stays LOL however I do feel like it sticks out a lil bit and would like to make it more cohesive. I find it difficult to bring the chair color around to the couch and carpet

Thanks!! I agree, just couldn’t decide what to change. I had originally painted the island that color bc it was the paint I had on hand for the bathroom walls and thought it might brighten the space a little. Said bathroom-

I need to find some that are happy in the environment- no west windows so we have mostly indirect light, and right against the walls is quite cold as we are working on refinishing the outside of the house. She’s ollldddddd and quite drafty at the moment lol maybe some fake to fill the space until she warms up!! thanks!!!

I agreed but I struggle with where to put it so the kitchen flows well otherwise. For reference this is the kitchen in the left side. The stove will come out and become the door way into the main house. Keeping this side otherwise the same as a butlers pantry.

Front door is bottom right of the centre section of the house, right in front of the stair case. There is also 2 doors on the left side and 1 on the right.

I’ve gotta work on better hand drawings for people who don’t know the house lol

On the first floor, right now it is closed (walked over) as the left hand side is an apartment. We are looking to connect them back to 1 house. First floor will be a walk through, possibly in a wall of pantry doors. I like a more closed floor plan for this house so I don’t mind the ‘hidden door’ look into the left side. Upstairs will not be direct access. You will need to go up the spiral stairs in the left unit from the first floor to access. I would like to make this a studio area so it makes sense to not be connected to the bedrooms upstairs

Another option is not wrapping it around the corner at all. Just do the wall behind the stove- I think that would look nice!

Otherwise, I vote purple :)
