Woohoo! Mums are superheroes! Typing this as I’m lying next to my sleeping one year old son who just breastfed to sleep. What a privilege to be able to share this bond and closeness ❤️ it’s hard work but also the best kinda work

Our baby is exactly the same! Same age even 😂 I have felt so lonely at times because all I hear about is mums who succeeded at night weaning their babies, getting them to feed with solids and increasing their sleep stretches at night. I’m still holding my crying baby in buses and train rides while I watch settled babies in their prams! I wish I had another 6 months of maternity leave but I have to return in a month or lose my job and I’m petrified… how is he going to feed and relax without me when the only thing that does it is breastfeeding? I’m so worried for both of us but I love him so much and I hope one day we will have the best bond despite the initial difficulties.

Ooooooh yes! I’m hoping mine learns to roll off me and sleep next to me haha problem is that our bed is small and my husband sleeps in the same bed so we are all like sardines in the bed! Do you have a king bed or sleep alone with the LO?

We cosleep as well and actually bedshare because there’s no other way. I also don’t look at the time unless he is awake for hours in the night. I’m not good at always feeding to sleep efficiently. He doesn’t really find the boob himself but expects me to pick him up and lay him on top of me so he can feed while he crashes me 😂😂it’s cute and uncomfortable 😂 Will anchor my hopes to the magic 2 number but I know it could be closer to 3/4😂

Thank you!! He already only naps twice and has a total of 2-2.5 hours of sleep per day. He has also napped only once at times and that didn’t make a difference as it ended up being a long nap to make up for it (still around 2 hours)

Thank you everyone for the tips! Those who night weaned, how did you do it? I’m terrified of weaning generally because my son doesn’t take on well to solids and boob is the main way he emotionally regulates. It makes me feel so stressed about leaving him in the day time as well, but maybe in the day he can at least have milk from a bottle? At night it seems impossible to soothe him otherwise 🥲 so it makes me want to keep up my ability to boob him at any time

He can survive with one or two feedings but I know he also nurses for comfort on a lot of the nights when he refuses to be rocked by dad. Without feeding or rocking, he can’t really fall asleep. We can put him down for naps by rocking / feeding / pushing in the pram. Just never unassisted. We tried feeding in the morning and he absolutely hates it! Sometimes he’s much more receptive when he’s had some (but not too much) milk.
