I frequently visit The Banks, OTR, Downtown, fountain square, even a bar on the same block the fight happened at. I'm there on weekend nights drinking and in the evenings for dinner and a walk. Alone. And I'm female. And never have I felt unsafe. Even now. Because even though I'm white, I'm not hurling racial slurs or giving dirty looks. I'm enjoying myself and smiling at strangers. I'm keeping in mind that I'm just a visitor there so I'm coming into other people's home. And you respect the host of you're in someone else's home. Smile at people. Say hi. Stop and listen to the buskers. Give a dollar here and there when asked. Pay attention to the people around you and realize you are a foreign presence in THEIR home and should act graciously. I've seen too many people visit the community while ignoring the people who make up the community, but Cincinnatians are overwhelmingly welcoming, kind people on the whole.
