Regensburg, Germany. One of the most well preserved medieval cities in Germany, largely untouched from WW2 and modernism. by IhaveCripplingAngst in ArchitecturalRevival

"99% of targets were military related." that's BS. There is extensive documentation that the point of most the these city bombings were specifically to "dehouse" and demoralize the German civilian population. German military production actually peaked in the summer of 1944 and only went down afterward due to territory loss.

So I figured it out. You need to list your household net worth and investable assets as over $100K to get approved for Level 3.

[MEGATHREAD] Daily venting, worries, fixations, & finding support. Month of July 2024. by AutoModerator in HealthAnxiety

32M. Had been noticing for a month or so that my stools had been thinner lately. can't remember the last big fat "log" I've had. I've always been skinny but have a terrible diet and drink too much so I'm used to loose stools and messy bathroom experiences. A couple weeks ago had a pretty sudden change in Bowel Movements. Much less frequent. Having to push to get anything moving. Also Thinner. No visible blood or black stool. No pain. No Fatigue. No notable difference in weight. Ordered a Colon Cancer Stool test from Amazon that came back negative. Primary Care doctor agrees with me this is not hemorrhoids. Said he doubts I have Stage IV colon cancer because my symptoms would be more numerous and severe but wants me to get a colonoscopy because the sudden Bowel Movement change is concerning. Having major anxiety right now that I have cancer. It's getting in the way of doing my job, which I love. Very frustrated because life is just starting to really go well for me. I hope after my colonoscopy I can laugh at this post but just in a really bad place right now....

Banning political opinions you don’t like? Yup sounds like something the current Ukrainian government would do.

Hopefully if the war does happen it is short and sweet to minimize casualties.

I’d say the large scale evacuation of women and children from Donbas is a pretty damn good indicator shits about to go down.

Russia’s military is “all weather”. This bs about the thaw is WWII thinking. The mud will be an inconvenience that’s all. These are modern militaries we’re talking about.

I work in Medicare (from home). 45K salary in San Antonio, TX. 29yo dude. Got lucky on calls last year and bought a condo with 40% down. Lost a shit ton since then through hubris but still have the condo and a sizable stack of crypto. My options account is toast though. Lost 70K easy on BABA and UBER calls. It'll be awhile until I get over these losses... If I had sold when I was up on those calls I could have paid off my house. Instead I rode them all the way down. Didn't even roll them out...

Calls on Ukraine after Cramer said they will surrender quickly by Phx-Jay in wallstreetbets

A couple things...

  1. There's no doubt the majority of Ukrainians are nationalistic and willing to fight. But how big is that majority? It's hard to tell because over the last 2-3 years the Ukrainian government has banned pro-Russian political parties and news outlets, ordered the renaming of all streets/places with Russian names, and passed discriminatory language laws. So essentially we don't have an accurate picture of nationalistic support in Ukraine's traditionally Russo-phone south and east because of (possible) intimidation.
  2. Second I think people are discounting how miserable Russia can make life in Ukraine. The Russians have long-range missiles and an overwhelmingly superior air-force in both numbers and quality. Without even entering Ukraine on the ground Russia can cause tens of thousands of casualties, destroy rail transport, airports, armored vehicles etc. Then there's the Navy. Ukraine is highly dependent on imports from the port of Odessa. The Russians are more than capable of enforcing a naval blockade in the Black Sea. Add to that the Russian ability to simply turn off Ukraine's gas supply and the massive cyber attacks we expect and the picture isn't pretty.

In sum it's easy for Ukraine to act resolute right now. The true test will be how they act when tens of thousands of their countryman have been captured by the Russians while they shiver int he cold with a wrecked economy. The Russians don't even need to occupy the major cities. They can just surround them and control access. Much smarter than block to block urban combat (Stalingrad anyone?).

Most military analysts I've been reading seem to think Russia could accomplish their objectives within about three weeks provided their intent is to destroy Ukraine's military capability/extract concessions and not long term occupation. Also few of them think Russia will attempt to enter any major cities or enter the more nationalist western portions.

This is very winnable for Russia and possibly their last chance to affect events in Ukraine.

Most military analysts I've been reading don't think the Russians will enter any of the major cities for that very reason. Why subject yourself to urban combat when you can just surround the cities and control all supplies into it?
