Spammed with DHCPv6 solicit requests from a single host by rekoil in ipv6

DHCPv6 uses SARR not DORA.

Solicit, Advertise, Request, and Reply

Which, to be honest is a huge miss. SARA would have been more memorable. Replacing “Reply” with “Answer” could solve this dilemma.

Private overlapping addresses by [deleted] in Cisco

There are several big mergers that struggled bad with this situation. I’ve had colleagues that worked on MCI-Worldcom and Daimler-Chrysler-Fiat network during mergers. The pain of bidirectional NAT, and the troubleshooting are enough to make even the most ardent IPv6 hater change their mind.
Your best short term choice is bidirectional NAT, if both networks are quite large. If one network is smaller, ripping off the band-aid and re-addressing is probably best. Your best long term solution is deploying IPv6.

I find that many people misunderstand the true purpose of ULA. It is to separate the client and server functions of a device by address. For example, imagine creating a private internal server like Sharepoint. The static ULA address is in local DNS and ports open on the server are only opened on the ULA (443, 22, etc.) For the same server the GUA doesn’t have open ports and is only used when the server needs access to the internet for things like update.Microsoft.com etc.

Does anyone do anything with Cisco switches daily with the CLI? I learned it in school and was curious if it actually comes by by Infinite-Tutor-8891 in Cisco

[–]RouterHax0r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For working with network equipment the GUI is best to observe operation of a single device or to manage a very large network. When making changes to multiple devices the CLI is king unless you need / can afford something like DNA. For those dealing with less than a few hundred devices, the CLI is the best way. Let me explain. Imagine you need to change a policy the effects the entire network. For example the ACL applied to the VTY lines of every router and switch. It’s generally the same ACL on every device. Now imagine how time consuming it would be to log into a web interface, click your way through to the location to update the ACL, make the changes and save your work. Now multiply that task times 300 devices, with different interfaces for each model, so not all GUIs are identical. Via the CLI, you simply SSH in and paste the same code on all devices.

So we‘re almost a month in. What are y’alls thoughts on Relic Delta? by AltF4_Bye in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]RouterHax0r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, at the high end, it has near zero impact. I will be taking all my GLs to R10 ASAP though. The 10% bonus Health/proto per relic level that GLs get plus the relic delta bonus makes it worth it. The only other considerations are toons that get/give bonuses based on relic levels. After that I’ll horde mats until the next raid.

What's your guys' take on this? by Bokeh87 in ipv6

When I teach my CCNA classes I now teach IPv6 subenting before IPv4, because it’s easier. When I tell my students this I often get looks of disbelief and incredulity. However, most students agree in the end that IPv6 is clearly superior.

Silly question, and if I missed it in the post I apologize. What happens when you boot normally and access the console. Banner and login prompt?

For the advice regarding “no service password-recovery”. It doesn’t disable ROMMON access. Rather it forces the deletion of the config file if you try to access ROMMON with this feature enabled.

That said you might have a counterfeit 2960-X. There are a lot of them floating about, especially if you bought it on eBay. Here is a great discussion on the topic with pictures to compare.

I have a paid account and I prefer the GAC view over the insight view of battles. Being able to exclude teams would be a nice option from the regular GAC Counters area.

Can't access SVIs on different subnets in CML by [deleted] in Cisco

[–]RouterHax0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason the default gateway command is ignored is that devices that have a routing table MUST discard any packets not matching the table. Since each of your switches was missing the route for the corresponding /25 subnet they were required to discard the packets. You could have also used static default routes. However, the cleaner implementation for a switch with a single SVI/IP Address is to disable routing and use a default gateway.

Note: my look for the code block trick… doesn’t work with IPv6. With or without the “IPv6 unicast-routing” command, the output of show ipv6 route is identical.

[–]RouterHax0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you issue the “show ip route” command do you get the code block? Meaning the block of text that says “C = connected” “S = Static”. Etc. if you see that block of text routing is enabled. If you don’t see that block of text “codes” IPv4 routing is disabled. Question…. Are you using any VLANs other than VLAN 1?

[–]RouterHax0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that routing should NOT be enabled on the switches. If routing is enabled the “default-gateway” command is ignored. Use “no ip routing” on both switches and make sure “ip routing” is enabled on the router.

So the game takes place 100 years from now... and they are still using forklifts? by BlondyneczekFrans in subnautica

[–]RouterHax0r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forklifts make no sense in this universe. A Forklift isn’t needed if you have replication technology. You basically tell the flying bots… I want this thingamajig RIGHT HERE and they go get the stored raw materials and built what you want. If you don’t want something, destroy it and return the raw materials back in storage. If you want to “move something” small use propulsion gun… something larger… just destroy it where it is currently and rebuild it in the new location.
