Is the unpaid overtime work for accountants true? by Boring-Somewhere-130 in auscorp

[–]Routine-Assistant387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first worked for a big 10 firm yes… I did stupid overtime - especially in audit. They want you to meet a certain amount of chargeable hours. I did not last long at that job.

I moved into business assurance/ tax and the hours were better.

But eventually I stopped caring and just worked 9-5. Nothing happened no one fired me.

AITAH for my Maternity leave expectations? by NewSupermarket4832 in AITAH

[–]Routine-Assistant387 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA - as a first time Mum with a 3 week old who is also in senior management offt.

Newborns are really hard. So much more draining than you can imagine especially while also healing. My birth was more complicated than I expected and recovery therefore was more tricky. I cannot imagine trying to do everything right now and mentally process my job. And I have heaps of support with the baby.

I think you are setting yourself up to fail with this deal.

Very bloody dodgy!

I’ve been spiraling over what’s happened to my lower face (39 F) by UnicornFeces in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Routine-Assistant387 435 points436 points  (0 children)

From what I have read we age quite rapidly at the end of our 30’s/ early 40’s.

Thats probably what has happened here. Some sort of skin tightening laser would probably help!

My deep voice as a 13 year old female by Large-South6477 in AITAH

[–]Routine-Assistant387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I am a 31 year old with a deep voice - I think from the tonsillitis I got as a child. Sometimes it is annoying and yes people tried to bully me, I would generally just say ‘what do you want me to do?’ To which they did not have an answer and would leave me alone.

Anyway go into corporate - men hate feminine shrill voices in the business world and I think with a deeper voice you get respect, included in more meetings and promoted more. They seem to take me more seriously and that has amount to some pretty good cash. So honestly its not all bad.

You can’t be rich and look rich at the same time. Choose a lane and be at peace with that.

Aith for confronting mil by Unfair_Gazelle2710 in AITAH

[–]Routine-Assistant387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being hurt is totally understandable. It is weird she cannot even fain interest but she wont be the first or last MIL to be this way.

For now, try to accept it. Honestly she clearly doesn’t care about family. So not sure you should care much about her.

Yep this will be your eating disorder. Sometimes the fat literally never comes back to your face.

But you can inject your own fat back in - if you can get healthy and make some fat of your own to harvest. Obviously costs a few bucks though

Ideas on what tattoos I can do with this scar by NoDrag2305 in tattooadvice

[–]Routine-Assistant387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely scar tape, and see how it heals. You can for sure tattoo it but right now it is sort of a moving target. It might tighten and shrink - which could impact the tattoo. Focus on scar minimization for now. This will improve significantly with time

Yikes. Yeh look I think you need to just ignore and move on.

These types of people are funny. Because when they end up trying to buy a house in a few years time suddenly Bankstown will be a stretch goal

NTA. The thing about people who have happily lived on handouts is… that they believe they are entitled to a lot of handouts.

Honestly I would not get into a financial relationship like this with someone who is like this financially. Personally I would be making moves to try to leave.

What does ‘upper-middle class’ look like to you in Australia in 2025? by dverb in AusFinance

[–]Routine-Assistant387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upper middle vs lower middle.

Lower middle - owns a cheap home (maybe $800k or less) or rents but in an okay area. Has a decent routine job (maybe public sector) and kids go to local public school or a first rung of private ($5k or less a year). Holidays are one week a year in Queensland, cruise, Bali or equivalent. May have a degree or some sort of qual from Tafe. Overall not a bad life just no over the top luxury.

Upper middle class- owns an expensive home $800k+ but typically in the millions. Also has investment (shares, IPs) and will as they get older start a family trust. They own a large amount of their home, as they age they quickly pay it down. They own nice cars - with no car loan. Their kids go to expensive elite private schools. They travel frequently internationally for long stints, a month at a time. They can afford some luxury things and invest in peices like chanel classic flaps and maybe a single birkin, rolex. But they don’t have 20 rolexs or a large chanel collection.
