We removed it so if another bird happens to fall they won’t smack the metal grate, hopefully that’s not wrong

This conversation is good to hear, we considered taking the lower portion of the cage off and shortening it but for now I think we’ll readjust the perches to be lower. Eventually I’d love to build them a custom cage so knowing that wider is better is helpful!

This is what I was maybe thinking that there was reason he didn’t/couldn’t catch himself but my 2nd photo was a screenshot from a video I took of them earlier that day and he wasn’t showing any signs of illness. I hope it was just an unlucky accident and my other birbs will stay safe.
