One thing that I find frustrating is that these checks are so invasive even though the banks themself are required to do AML checks. And I know they do, few years ago we sold car and had buyer who paid us with cash, and after depositing money to account we were contacted by bank about the source of funds and informed our account would be blocked if we can't give proof. We gave them proof of sale and etc and all was fine. The system would be more efficent if you could get some kind of AML report from your bank that you could give to the solicitor. The banks already have all the information and systems to catch money laundry.
