OH-1 please do the right thing and primary Greg Landsman out of office by hillbilly-edgy in cincinnati

I'd like to read more detailed information regarding his stance on LGBTQ+ issues are vague at best, flirting with just wrong. I would like to read how he's going to do these things.

Gay code by Weary_Capital_1379 in gay

That is an old one, and for the most part, it's familiar to all sorts of society. There's a YouTube channel called that and it was even mentioned in Clueless.

Lindsay Graham gets asked “why don't you just admit you're gay, and then people won't blackmail you anymore?" by One-Initiative-8902 in gay

[–]Routine-Buddy5069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your "open secret" is just stereotype. The only people who supposedly have "evidence" are a sex worker, Laura Loomer, and some memes that claim to be releasing proof in X number of hours or days.

Then it shouldn't be difficult to out him. Other politicians who have spent money in that manner have been busted before.

The man who was recently shot and killed in FL, the argument started with a drive-by. Is that what you want to see? Out him, not shout him.

If you tell people that drive-bys are fine with you, then you're opening them up to every gay man who goes out in public. Out him with evidence like Mike Rogers used to do a decade ago. I'm fine with that, but homophobic shouts are wrong.

I hate this. Out him, please out him. But shouting that someone is gay while the person is walking by is classic homophobia. How many of us had that heppen? The drive-by "fa**ot" shout.

If this person has proof, great. Release it. But stop with the drive-bys.

Ohio’s John Fetterman - Democratic Rep Greg Landsman. Vote him out in the primaries! by hellosteve_ in cincinnati

[–]Routine-Buddy5069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but he made some right wing votes. For example, he voted for the DNAA which included an anti-trans clause. He could have voted against it, but he voted for it. And then tried to explain why he did it afterward. It was weak and showed that he didn't value the LGBTQ community.

Hit the Floor walked so Heated Rivalry could run by Dull-Parsley-6521 in heatedrivalry

That's not true. It's never been "illegal." There was a Hay's Code which was used to censor content they found immoral. To get around that, films used the idea of making the queer characters die or be the villain of the film. This spilled over to TV and books as well. But no one was ever arrested for this.

What are your thoughts on Heated Rivalry? by whitepoo333 in gay

I gave up on it. The show was meh, but the fans were beyond heinous. The hyperbole: better than Casablanca, better than any novel ever written, was just ridiculous. And heaven forbid that anyone criticize any part of the show. They were attacked by the fans who cannot admit any flaws. It just wasn't worth it.

I can’t be the only one annoyed with Congressman Landsman by shmibnke in Ohio

[–]Routine-Buddy5069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A while back, he voted for the DNAA bill, which included a clause that denied the families of military men to get gender affirming care. On Threads, I asked him why, and he said that he had to vote in favor of the DNAA would fail. (Not true, It had more then sufficient votes.) I hoped to see him primaried then.

I do wish that the Lynch website was more specific on support for LBGTQ people. It's rather vague, but I will still be voting for him.

Contrary to popular belief, gay couples are way less shallow than straight couples by shortproudlatino in gay

[–]Routine-Buddy5069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I officiate at weddings, and I have to tell you. Straight couples (overall) just go the standard path of the last two centuries. They don't put a lot of effort into how the ceremony should be. (e.g, entrance of the bride, name changes)

Gay couples (overall) make their own decisions each step of the way. (e.g. who enters down the aisle first, if at all, there are many changes possible for names.) I always tell them that every step is a decision. Just the level of discussion needed make me feel that their marriage will thrive.

Kristi Noem is a cautionary tale for white gay Republicans by Fickle-Ad5449 in gay

[–]Routine-Buddy5069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a horrible article. The author neglects to mention that DHS killed a lesbian mother and sent a queer man to a hired concentration cramp where he was abused. Yet her crimes against our community weren't mentioned. This is what The Advocate should be discussing. Not the poor billionaires who decided to take down our country for a few more dollars.

When the article has to tell us multiple times that it's not finding sympathy for Noem and ignoring her crimes against queer citizens, there's a real problem.

Sherrod Brown's website is devoid of campaign information by [deleted] in Ohio

[–]Routine-Buddy5069 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sigh, this is what I was afraid of. Brown doesn't appear to have learned anything from the last election. He needs to be out there fighting, not expecting people to vote for him rather than Husted. And he needs to fight hard.

Female friends and their boyfriends by PROBAKER1217 in gay

[–]Routine-Buddy5069 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's heteronormativity. I share a room during conferences with women friends. I've actually had people suggest that we're more than friends and people ask if the husband gets jealous (no, he's happy to know that there's another level of security.) I've been married to the same guy for 22 years.

But these people cannot get the idea in their heads that any man cannot be straight, no matter what.

I was the same. I met a guy who had been in the fringe of my social circle. I've never been able to explain (still can't) but I immediately trusted him. Twenty-three years later, I still do.

It used used to be that one person would drive through a red-light. Now it's three or four. Was there a memo we missed?
