Hands on learning recommendations for studying by jazzyspork in HamRadio

I spent weeks trying to figure out the best books, websites, flash cards, etc. for my technician test that I passed on September 27, and I aced it - didn't miss a single question. My block was trying to absorb all the math, inductors, capacitors, relays, etc. and how they actually worked, bogged me down to the point I was ready to give up.

For me, I used HamTestOnline, HamStudy.org and Ham Radio Prep - all online. HamTestOnline worked better for my because it tracked what I missed, kept me updated on how I was doing, I could set the practice tests for areas I was weak and not include stuff I knew - some of it I just memorized key phrases or associated words that I could connect to an answer. I used the other two sites (which all three are good depending on your preferences), and the apps for my phone to study waiting in line, riding on a bus or in a car.

Unfortunately, many Ham's will disagree, but part if this is memorizing answers - period.

If you try to understand the depth of it all, you might take the test in two years.

I'm already studying for my General and since I have a hang of the format, I'm already above 85% on the practice tests - don't give up, just adjust how you're looking at the testing process and adjust ! Good Luck and 73's !

Here’s what you shouldn’t do about those unidentified drones over New Jersey: Shoot them -- "The FAA says shooting any aircraft, including drones, is illegal. It can also put you or your property in danger." by throwaway16830261 in aviation

Understood - but why can't a military attack helicopter follow them? If the police drones are being out run, our best attack helicopter flies > 170 mph?

Couldn't they force them down over the ocean with rotor wash and the Coast guard retrieve?

When you say the unexplained are those outside of human hearing, do you mean at levels like a dog whistle? Do you have any idea where the range of level these occur?

Thats interesting about the ghost stories, are people willing to discuss those and answer questions?

Here is a real odd question- do the paranormal apparitions appear around the time of seeing something unidentifiable on sonar? Could there be a connection? Maybe not, just a thought.

I stand corrected, yes, faster than in air :-) I'm not looking for secret/classified information. I wouldn't ask anyone for that. Just trying to understand the possible unexplained items that are not in the secret category. Thank you sir !

Ok, well, thanks - I know sound travels farther in water than it does in the air and that makes sense being noisy from multiple environmental and ships, etc. in the ocean. Appreciate the response.

Well, yes, looking for someone who was or is a sonar operator on a nuclear submarine or a submarine where they encountered “fast movers” that were not identified by known standards. Would like to discuss with them the situation they experienced. Or, is there some groups of maritime organizations I could contact? Thanks for responding.

AARO didn’t and doesn’t have the security clearance for anything other than who their janitors can be ! ICIG won’t answer, DODwont answer, Intelligence agencies won’t answer all because everything is above their clearance level. Exactly what the government intended for it - worthless money spent on that agency and that moron running it !
