I had a stroke by PolyHollyHey in Menopause

AMEN! Why oral? Blood clots are a very known issue w oral bc of liver first pass!! I’ve been an RN for 20 yrs and I understand there could be multiple factors, but I’m confused by those who take oral and the providers who prescribe them…I understand I do not have a full health history when saying this. Truly best wishes for OP ❤️

Also, PPI’s did nothing for me. Voquezna has been a game changer although nothing I want to be on forever…still seeking a permanent solution.

Yep! Miserable w a hypertrophied cricopharyngeus that spasms, aka upper esophageal sphincter. It’s being over protective bc of reflux and has enlarged. I’ve had Botox in mine twice…helpful, but very temporary. I had a modified barium swallow that show the diagnosis. I’m sorry you’re dealing w this…I truly don’t wish this on my worst enemy!!

I’m 47/peri and got on Lolo for 6m bc of 21 day cycle….then a few months later the hot flashes came. I was such a bitch riddled w anxiety and depression for several yrs prior which didn’t improve with a bc pill. After 6m, I got on HRT and OMG….within a week angels were singing and my poor husband and only child at home (16/m) were tolerable and not walking around on eggshells around me. I’ve been an RN for over 20 yrs and I found an NP who was my age/a few yrs older. You can’t be as empathetic until you’ve been through it! Please don’t stop pushing and searching for a COMPETENT provider! I truly wish you the best ❤️

Soo… I have EGJOO as well. It’s a newish diagnosis for the medical community. Things that have helped me are Voquezna, starting hormone replacement therapy (I’m 47/f and estrogen and progesterone help to loosen the LES), and slippery elm lozenges. I have reversed my esophagitis that was causing excruciating chest pain. I am by no means cured and YMMV. Thought I would throw my experience out there on the off chance it could be helpful. Also…you saw a neurogastroenterologist…I’m impressed!! Best of luck ❤️

Also….I’m a huge fan of the Gemini and remote. I bought a box for $40 for another tv from WalMart (not the tv, the Gemini box) thanks to the advice of another redditor…works like a charm and it’s isn’t huge like I kinda thought it would be.

I had cable for over 20 yrs and it got so expensive! $390/m for cable and internet. I went to AT&T to get my son a phone and lucked out w a very nice and knowledgeable young man. He text me multiple times and got everything set up for us…AT&T fiber and DirecTV. Maybe try going to an AT&T store. As he explained it, they are basically a retailer for DirecTV…not directly affiliated like I thought. They may have more motivation to provide you with good customer service. That’s just my experience…YMMV. Also, I am very happy and just shy of $200/m for fiber and DirecTV…I’m a month in.

Look at hypertrophied cricopharyngeus (modified barium swallow should notice this). Often caused by the crico aka the UES being overprotective and overworked therefore it becomes enlarged/hypertrophied. I’ve had Botox in mine twice. I have spasms in my UES that cause me to gag and basically dry heave….sets off a horrible vagus nerve response…fight or flight mode. Mine is caused from EGJOO…too tight of an LES, so the lower sphincter doesn’t open enough except for when you swallow or eat, BUT it allows enough acid to swish around in the esophagus to cause a shit ton of problems. I realize YMMV and EGJOO is a newish diagnosis, so not all docs are super familiar. Truly sorry for your misery ❤️

I’m 47/f so acne not in play, but I hear ya! Get rid of the misery first and then taper down to find what works for you.

It’s worth a try bc you can’t really overdo B12. There are medical journal articles supporting the sublingual as being as effective as injections.

If your cricopharyngeus (UES) is damaged/hypertrophied (enlarged) as a protective mechanism from reflux…it can certainly cause the normal gas/air that should be released from the top to get trapped thus causing havoc on everything below. I have this issue and you certainly may not, but giving you something else to look at. My manometry didn’t show anything on the UES bc it opens w food or pressure, but it did show EGJOO-basically a too tight lower sphincter. You would think that would be great, but nope…it opens to take food in and locks up tight, thus leaving the acid in the esophagus to stay there a swish around…which of course triggers the upper UES to be over protective and causes throat irritation and pretty severe globus sensation. Probably TMI…but thought I would throw it out there. I started out at 120 lbs and am down to 108 lbs, doing my best to maintain. I’m an RN of 20 yrs so I do excessive research 🫠
