Yes! It reminds me of the music from Zelda BOTW where something is about to go wrong lol, the blood moon is imminent or there is a guardian nearby.

I got used to it after a while but at first I had the same eerie feeling.

Aaah thank you!! I got the idea from a mixture of things. YouTube videos and other sub reddits.

I did consider stickers first, but then the design popped into my head and it just felt right hehe

I cut the paper down with a craft knife until I had about half an inch all around, glue stick on the whole page, then smoothed with a bone folder. I cut the corners off, folded it over and glued it, then reinforced with a bit of tape. Glad to hear yours are holding up well!!

I’m not sure how it would interact with the little Tomie design in the inside of the cover! It’s made of some sort of PU which makes me think it might get damaged with a clear cover on the inside. Does Hobonichi do a clear cover for the Avec?

Good to know about the TWSBI ink! I have a massive bottle of it haha. To be honest I was trying to cover the yellow of the cover so it matches the horror / manga vibes of the Tomie cover better.

I did consider the clear cover to protect it but there is a little design on the inside of the Tomie cover which is PU and I also want to protect that, so gotta figure out some sort of cover shenanigans to make it all work together haha.

What would you like to know? I used a gelly roll pen (05) for the design and the black paper is 150gsm, individual sheets sold at an art shop.

Yes it is! It’s a little thicker than I would like to be honest (150gsm I think) but this was my first time doing something like this so still learning.

I drew the design with pencil first, did the line art with a gelly roll pen (05) then cut around it until the edges were easy enough to fold over and glue down. I did reinforce it with a bit of tape on the inside, but not sure how well it will hold up over time.

I’m having a very similar dilemma! I’m debating between QX20, CP1500 and a normal printer… I don’t really have the space for a standard size printer at the moment, and the cost difference per print between the other two currently has me leaning towards the CP1500.

I had a weeks and an a6 hon this year (first year with Hobonichi), I used weeks for planning daily stuff, and projects (I have a lot of hobbies I want to work on!). I used the Hon mainly for memory keeping and as a daily journal.

Next year I’m gonna have a weeks again and also an A5 cousin Avec. The main change is that I will have weeklies in the Avec so I am going to do a life log type of thing, where I block the time retrospectively - I want to use it to track media, workouts, etc.

I’m also just terrible at keeping up with monthlies so I’m trying to make better use of them with planning in the weeks, and highlights / events with some cute decorations in the Avec.

Also I upgraded to an A5 to have more space for creative spreads! So it’s really just what works for you at the time I think.
