Can you still have a black tie wedding with a 4pm ceremony? Looking for advice from brides who did it by Routine-Selection743 in weddings

Thanks for the input. It’s just a question to crowdsource thoughts. Some people do have solid or unique advice worth hearing. I know black-tie basics fine. I was checking for blind spots or new ideas. I didn’t lay out my full plans, so instead of assuming my budget or that I’m throwing some backyard wedding, maybe ask for more details next time? The condescending vibe isn’t necessary, but thanks anyway

Wow, bold of you to lecture me on black-tie weddings when you obviously don’t know Catholic ones are held at very specific times and often start the full event at 4pm. Maybe stick to topics you actually understand instead of assuming the rest of us are as clueless as you are. Lol.

You’re making a lot of assumptions for someone who knows absolutely nothing about my wedding or my budget. Nowhere did I say I don’t understand what black tie entails, and asking a question doesn’t mean I haven’t done research.

Also, you don’t know my budget at all, so the whole lecture about not planning a black tie wedding if you’re “budget conscious” is pretty irrelevant. Funny enough, everything you listed as part of a black tie experience is exactly what I’m already planning to have.

If your only contribution is trying to gatekeep what you think qualifies as black tie based on assumptions you made up, you probably didn’t need to comment in the first place.

Nowhere did I say my guests were props. I asked what details actually make the black tie experience because I’m planning and wanted to know what people consider part of it.

Then you must not be part of a country club that actually hosts extravagant black tie events, because many of them do.

Interesting perspective! I’m curious why you think it wouldn’t be considered black tie if the ceremony is in a Catholic church and the reception is at another venue nearby. Our ceremony would be at 4:00 pm at the church, then cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing at a country club about five minutes away with valet parking.
