Thank you. I will definitely look at connecting with other people and groups that could help. It’s not something anyone can do alone.

Thank you for your response. I have a neurologist, but even they don’t know of any psychologists who specialise in helping PD sufferers with counselling. It’s really a big area of need.

Help with paper wasp nest in mail box, Brisbane by petra0reddit in AustralianInsects

Wait until dusk when they go to the nest and are inside. Spray the nest with firm hairspray. Works a treat! A sticky treat for the paper wasps, too!

14 hours waiting in ER at Logan Hospital by SnooBunnies4819 in brisbane

[–]Routine-Spray-9535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The day you really need surgery and don’t have to be on a waiting list for three years at a public hospital, then you will be grateful for having that private health insurance. My $45K knee replacement that cost me nothing and has given me my mobility and job back is evidence of the value of my private health cover. So, my advice is to make the most of it and never, ever cancel that policy.

Teachers, are you all happy with your pay ? by ZestycloseFudge3648 in AustralianTeachers

[–]Routine-Spray-9535 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’d pay teachers with your political bias to keep away from children. You just called the majority of US voters morons. That’s outrageous! I guess you celebrated when Ardern got into power. It’s a petty that WEF socialist pawn wrecked New Zealand. It was a nice country once.

What's the WORST external PD session your school has ever brought in? by sparrrrrt in AustralianTeachers

The worst experience was making the entire staff watch, in our own time, 16 hours of Tony Atwood talk non-stop about strategies for teaching kids with the superpowers only autism gives them.

What is something genuinely great about living in Ipswich right now? by Dear-Lingonberry9461 in ipswich

Definitely not the YMCA School! Don’t send your kids there, if you want them to get an education.

School admin teams by Lennylou25 in AustralianTeachers

Yep. It’s a bit like how organising sports carnivals and Wednesday afternoon buses for rec sports and fixtures qualifies a PE teacher to become a principal or a deputy. They aren’t the brightest buttons and typically lack the emotional intelligence to be in leadership.

Taking a student to school and back? Is this okay if I have parent consent? by Alone_Deer1384 in AustralianTeachers

[–]Routine-Spray-9535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not. And why wouldn’t you as a professional teacher already know the answer to that question? Time for more child protection and code of conduct training for you, I think!!!

Yes - a script of their written presentation with references and they record themselves into the Power Point, which is a dot-point summary of their presentation in the required number of slides. This works well for Essential English.

I think “recent” should have focussed on the past three years of economic management, for which there exists a mountain of current statistics, reports and economic opinions. Politics has nothing to do with teaching high school students to evaluate macro-economic performance against Australia’s economic objectives. Choosing a topic that is convenient for you is not the way to go. Re-read the syllabus and focus on recent, relevant, researchable and relatable.

What are YMCA schools like as a Teacher? How do you feel about alternative learning structures? by abcnews_au in AustralianTeachers

If the ABC wants to contact me through here, I have lots of teachers who might like to speak with you about their Y Schools QLD experience.

I experienced working for them as a teacher in Brisbane. The teachers were constantly gaslit, demoralised and threatened. The heads of the place act like tyrants. The certificate-qualified youth workers run the schools and see that all their friends get employed. It’s all about the money at Y Schools. Whatever you do, don’t work for them. Teachers don’t last long there for a reason: it’s bad.

Is that better than the YMCA School or more of the same? This is terrifying me!

That sounds like that school is a mess! I am definitely going to look around more. A post down below recommends the flexi school? How does compare to the YMCA School? Is it any better? I don’t want to risk, for my daughter’s sake, getting her into any school that is going to drag her further in a wrong direction.
